Invictioner.club POP-UP Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is invictioner.club?
Like many other rogue websites (check-now.online, chancce.com, vutilityy.com and a bunch of others), invictioner.club is designed to redirect users to various untrustworthy sites.
Research shows that mot users visit invictioner.club unwillingly - they get redirected by potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) that get installed without user's consent and as well as causing unwanted redirects they deliver various advertisements, collect data and misuse system resources.
Potentially unwanted applications, once installed, force web browsers to open new tabs or windows and redirect users to invictioner.club website. As we mentioned in our introduction , this website is designed to cause redirects (typically 2-3) to other untrustworthy websites.
One (or more) of the unwillingly visited websites could contain some malicious content and cause high-risk computer infections. Besides, PUAs collect data: IP addresses, search queries, keystrokes, geo-locations, visited websites and so on. It is very likely that some of the data will contain personal/personally identifiable or other sensitive information.
What's worse, the collected data is later shared with third parties (could be cyber criminals as well) and used to generate revenue. By sharing user's data PUAs pose a threat to user's privacy, browsing safety or it could even result in identity theft as well.
Furthermore, potentially unwanted applications deliver ads, such as pop-ups, surveys, coupons, banners and other advertisements that are displayed via tools that enable placement of third party graphical content and conceal underlying content of any website.
These ads are designed to trick users into clicking them and redirect them to untrustworthy (potentially malicious) websites. Some ads of this kind are capable of running scrips that are designed to download and install potentially unwanted applications.
There are cases where PUAs, once installed, start to run various background tasks and in doing so they often affect computers and cause a decrease in its performance. If there are any PUAs installed on your computer we recommend you to uninstall them immediately.

There are many PUAs of this type out there and most of their developers offer various "useful" features or tools and try to make these programs to appear legitimate.
However, there are many cases whereby they record sensitive information, deploy ads and cause misleading redirects, and use it as a tool to generate revenue (rather than providing the functions promised). Therefore, most PUAs deliver no significant value for regular users and typically cause only harm.
How did adware install on my computer?
It is known that many potentially unwanted applications can be downloaded from their official websites. However, two most common ways to get PUAs installed is through advertisements or when developers use a "bundling" method.
Bundling is a deceptive marketing method used to install potentially unwanted applications within other regular software in a stealthy way.
PUAs usually are hidden in "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar sections of the installation processes. As a rule, information about such installations is not disclosed properly, and by skipping the installation dialog steps users often install them unknowingly/unintentionally.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Avoid using third party software installed and downloaders, torrents or unofficial and untrustworthy sources to download software. It is recommended to use only official sources and direct links. Make sure that you check "Advanced", "Custom" and other similar settings/options and deselect unwanted offers like additional software.
Avoid clicking intrusive ads, cyber criminals invest money in their design and that is why most of them look legitimate. Once clicked, they often redirect users to various untrustworthy and potentially malicious websites such as pornography, gambling, adult dating etc.
If you clicked on such ad and got redirected to one of the mentioned untrustworthy websites, close it and check your web browser for unwanted extensions, add-ons or plug-ins, or programs on your computer. If you happen to find any suspicious/unwanted entries, uninstall them immediately.
If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
