Vutilityy.com POP-UP Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is vutilityy.com?
vutilityy.com is a rogue website (very similar or identical to unverf.com, trenced.com, softwareupdate.app and many others) that is designed to force users to visit various untrustworthy websites.
In other words, in most cases vutilityy.com website is visited unintentionally - users get redirected to it by potentially unwanted applications that typically get installed inadvertently. PUAs also record various user-system information and deliver advertisements.
Once a potentially unwanted application has infiltrated the system/got installed, it starts to open new browser windows or tabs and to redirect users to vutilityy.com rogue website. When this site is visited it triggers even more (typically 2-3) redirects to other untrustworthy or/and potentially malicious websites.
There is a great chance that one of the unwillingly visited websites will contain malicious content and cause high-risk computer infections. Furthermore, most potentially unwanted applications tend to deliver various ads that are displayed through tools that enable placement of third party graphical content and conceal underlying content of any website.
In addition, by clicking these ads users usually get redirected to potentially malicious websites, clicked ads of this type can even execute scripts designed to download and install malware or other potentially unwanted applications. These intrusive ads typically are displayed as banners, coupons, surveys, pop-ups etc.
Moreover, PUAs are known to collect various data that typically includes IP (Internet Protocol) addresses, search queries, keystrokes, visited websites, geo-locations and other data that could contain some personal/personally identifiable or sensitive information.
What's worse, collected data is shared with third parties (potentially cyber criminals) and used to generate revenue. Such actions could result in various privacy issues or even an identity theft. That is why we strongly recommend to uninstall/remove any installed potentially unwanted applications immediately.

There is a great number of potentially unwanted applications out there and all of them are almost identical (or at least very similar).
Most PUAs offer users various "useful" tools and/or features and pretend to be legitimate. However, in most cases PUAs do not deliver any real value for regular users and are designed only to generate revenue for their developers by gathering information, causing unwanted redirects and displaying intrusive advertisements.
How did adware install on my computer?
Research shows that there are many potentially unwanted applications that can be downloaded from their official websites. However, it is quite common that they get installed without user's permission or unwillingly. Two most common ways to install PUAs are when developers use the "bundling" method or through already mentioned intrusive ads.
Bundling is a essentially stealth installation of third party programs with regular software/apps. Developers hide these programs in "Advanced"/"Custom" and other similar options of the installation processes. Such installations typically are not disclosed properly.
Due to the lack of knowledge and careless behaviour users often skip installation steps and that is how PUAs get installed.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Install software with caution, do not skip the installation steps - check the "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar options/settings when installing various software. Opt-out unwanted offers (software or other supposedly useful tools) and only then finish the installation. Use direct links and official sources to download software.
Avoid using various third party software downloaders/installers. As you already know, intrusive ads is what you should avoid as well. It is hard to tell if the ad is legitimate or not, since their developers invest much resources into their design.
If you clicked advertisement that redirected to some gambling, pornography, adult daring or other similar website, immediately check the list of installed applications/programs on your computer or browser plug-ins, add-ons or extensions and remove any suspicious entries as soon as possible.
If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
