Com-1a.info POP-UP Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is com-1a.info?
Com-1a.info is a rogue website, and, like many other rogue websites (check-now.online, chancce.com, vutilityy.com etc.) is designed to cause redirects to untrustworthy, dubious websites. Most users do not visit com-1a.info intentionally, it's potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) who force users to visit it.
As a rule, PUAs get installed unknowingly or without permission and as well as causing redirects, PUAs also gather data about their users and deliver various advertisements.
When installed, potentially unwanted applications usually start to open new browser tabs or windows and trigger redirects to com-1a.info web page. This website then triggers even more (about 2-3) redirects to various untrustworthy and potentially malicious websites that could contain malicious content and cause high-risk computer infections.
Another downside of PUAs is information tracking and sharing: PUAs generate revenue for their developers by collecting data such as IP addresses, keystrokes, geo-locations, visited websites, search queries (and other data that could contain sensitive or personally identifiable information), and by sharing it with third parties (potentially cyber criminals).
If the collected data falls into wrong hands, users could suffer from various privacy issues or even more serious problems like an identity theft.
Furthermore, most potentially unwanted applications are designed to deliver various intrusive ads (coupons, banners, pop-ups, surveys and other similar ads) that are displayed using tools that enable placement of third party graphical content and conceal underlying content of any website.
These ads might look tempting, offer something "useful", however, once clicked these ads typically redirect users to various untrustworthy and potentially malicious websites. It is possible that an ad of this type will execute a script designed to download and install a potentially unwanted application that could be malicious as well.
Besides, some PUAs could slow down computers by running various background processes/tasks, like cryptocurrency mining. It is strongly recommended to remove potentially unwanted applications from your computer or a web browser as soon as possible.

There is a great number of potentially unwanted applications on the Internet and most of them are virtually identical: they offer various "useful features" and tools and pretend to be legitimate applications. However, PUAs deliver no real value for regular users and have only one purpose - to generate revenue for their developers.
Installed applications of this type are very likely to pose a direct threat to your privacy and Internet browsing safety, or to cause some other problems.
How did adware install on my computer?
There are many potentially unwanted applications that can be downloaded from their official websites, however, often they get installed using a deceptive marketing method called "bundling" - stealth installation of potentially unwanted applications with regular software/apps.
As a rule, these installations are not disclosed properly and developers hide bundled applications in "Advanced", "Custom" options (and other settings) of installation processes. Many users also tend to click on various ads, even when visiting untrustworthy websites.
That is how (due to the lack of knowledge or/and careless behaviour of many users) PUAs often infiltrate systems without unknowingly or without permission.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Be careful when downloading and installing various software, or when visiting untrustworthy websites and clicking ads on them. Download software using official sources and directs links. Avoid using third party software downloaders or installers and downloading software using torrents or other similar sources.
When installing software, check "Advanced", "Custom" and other sections of the installation process. Make sure that there are no checkboxes ticked by default, indicating that you agree to install something you do not want or need.
Avoid clicking on suspicious ads, they usually look legitimate but once clicked they redirect users to untrustworthy websites (like gambling, pornography, adult dating and other websites).
If you happen to be redirected to a website of this kind, immediately close the opened browser window or tab and uninstall any suspicious entries (plug-ins, add-ons, extensions etc.) that could possibly got installed when visiting a particular untrustworthy website.
If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
