Unverf.com POP-UP Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is unverf.com?
unverf.com is another rogue website identical (or very similar) to softwareupdate.app, remistrainew.club, rayjump.com, and many others. It is designed to cause redirects to other untrustworthy sites. Most people arrive at unverf.com unintentionally - potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) cause redirects to it.
Research shows that most PUAs are installed inadvertently, cause unwanted redirects, deliver intrusive ads, and gather information.
Following infiltration, potentially unwanted applications force browsers to open new tabs or windows and redirect users to the unverf.com rogue website. From there, users are redirected to even more (about 2-3) websites that might contain malicious content and cause high-risk computer infections.
PUAs also collect user-system information such as IP addresses, keystrokes, geo-locations, search queries, visited websites, and other data that might include personally identifiable or sensitive details. These are later shared with third parties (potentially cyber criminals) and misused to generate revenue.
By sharing collected information, PUAs expose users to various risks such as privacy issues or even identity theft. Furthermore, potentially unwanted applications deliver advertisements, such as coupons, banners, surveys, pop-ups, and so on, that are typically displayed using tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site.
These can diminish the browsing experience by concealing underlying content, and once clicked, redirect users to potentially malicious websites or execute scripts that download and install potentially unwanted applications (that can cause privacy and other issues).
Some PUAs run various background tasks (for example cryptocurrency mining) that can significantly affect overall computer performance. These are the main reasons why you are strongly advised to uninstall all PUAs immediately.

The Internet is full of potentially unwanted applications of this type - most offer various "useful" features/tools and attempt to give the impression of legitimacy to trick users into downloading them. In fact, these unwanted applications provide ads, misleading redirects, and generate revenue without providing users with the functionality promised (or any other value).
How did adware install on my computer?
Most potentially unwanted applications can be downloaded from their official websites, however, often users install them by clicking various ads or when software developers use the "bundling" method. Bundling is stealth installation of applications (programs) together with other regular software.
Quite often, users install potentially unwanted applications without their knowledge. Developers tend not to disclose these installations properly and hide bundled software in "Custom"/"Advanced" options or other settings of the installation processes. Furthermore, many users skip installation steps by quickly clicking "Next" (or another similar button).
In this way, they are agreeing with the installations' terms, including installation of additional unwanted software. This careless behaviour allows PUAs to be installed, causes risk of various computer infections, privacy issues, and other problems.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Avoid using third party software downloaders or torrents. Download software from official sources and using direct links. Once you have the software downloaded, install it carefully: pay attention to each detail and study each step by checking the various settings and options such as "Custom", "Advanced", "Manual", and other similar sections.
Avoid clicking on ads: they may seem legitimate, but cyber criminals invest time and money into their design to make them appear as normal as possible.
If you have clicked an ad of this type and were redirected to an untrustworthy website (for example gambling, adult dating, pornography, etc.), close the site immediately and check if it has installed any unwanted plug-ins, extensions, or add-ons on your web browser.
Uninstall any suspicious entries immediately. Also check installed programs and remove any unwanted/suspicious entries. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
