Hibids10.com POP-UP Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is hibids10.com?
Identical to appdatum.com, special-news.online, limbotime.com, and others, hibids10.com is one of many rogue sites that redirects users to various other dubious websites.
Few visitors arrive at this site intentionally - in most cases, they are redirected to hibids10.com by potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) that infiltrate systems without users' consent. PUPs deliver intrusive ads, misuse system resources, and collect data.
Once potentially unwanted programs infiltrate systems, they open new browser windows/tabs and force users to visit a rogue site such as hibids10.com, which then redirects users to other (two or three) untrustworthy sites that contain malicious content. Redirection to these websites could result in high-risk computer infections.
Furthermore, potentially unwanted programs deliver intrusive ads in the form of coupons, pop-ups, surveys, banners, and so on. These ads are displayed via tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site (and conceal underlying content).
Once clicked, they can redirect users to other untrustworthy (potentially malicious) websites or even execute scripts that download and install potentially unwanted programs.
Furthermore, potentially unwanted programs collect user-system information (IP addresses, geo-locations, keystrokes, search queries, visited websites, etc.) that might contain sensitive or personal details. These details are shared with third parties (potentially cyber criminals) and used to generate revenue.
Sharing this information can cause privacy issues or even identity theft. Furthermore, some PUPs tend to run background processes that can affect computer performance (slowing down your system). Therefore, we recommend that you uninstall potentially unwanted programs immediately.

Most PUPs have virtually identical appearance and purpose - they generate revenue by collecting information, delivering intrusive ads, and causing unwanted redirects.
Software developers attempt to trick users into downloading these potentially unwanted programs by offering "useful features" (or tools), however, few PUPs give any real value for regular users or provide the functionality promised.
How did adware install on my computer?
Many potentially unwanted programs have official websites from where they can be downloaded, however, most users install them through intrusive ads or when developers use a deceptive marketing method called "bundling".
Bundling is stealth installation of rogue software (such as potentially unwanted programs) with other regular software (especially free software) that users download from the Internet. Typically, these bundled programs are hidden in "Advanced", "Custom" and other settings of the installation process.
Developers avoid disclosing these installations properly and use careless installations to their advantage.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Now that you know how they are installed, it is easier to understand how to avoid these rogue installations. Use official and trustworthy sources when downloading software, and avoid using torrents or third party downloaders/installers. Do not skip the software installation steps.
Take your time, and check all "Custom", "Advanced" and other parts of the installation processes, and deselect each offer or additional software that you do not want to install. You are advised to take precautions when browsing the web (clicking ads). Avoid clicking intrusive ads and visiting dubious websites.
If you happen to click an ad that redirected you to an untrustworthy website (such as gambling, pornography, adult dating, and so on), close it immediately and check for any suspicious extensions, plug-ins, or add-ons installed on your web browser, or programs on your computer. If you find any, uninstall them immediately.
If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
