History Cleaner Adware

What is History Cleaner?
Identical to NoterSave, Search In Tabs, Always Weather, and many others, History Cleaner is a deceptive application that supposedly allows users to delete their Internet browsing history.
Initially, History Cleaner may appear legitimate and useful, however, it is classed as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware. Be aware that this PUP often infiltrates systems without permission. Furthermore, it continually gathers various user-system information and delivers intrusive online advertisements.
Following infiltration, History Cleaner monitors browsing activity by recording Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, website URLs visited, pages viewed, queries entered into search engines, and other similar information.
The data might include personal details that History Cleaner's developers share with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who generate revenue by misusing private information. Therefore, information-tracking apps such as History Cleaner pose a direct threat to users' privacy and identities. Another downside is display of intrusive online advertisements.
History Cleaner's developers employ a "virtual layer" to generate pop-up, coupon, banner, and other similar ads. This is a tool designed to enable placement of third party graphical content on any site.
The ads often conceal underlying website content. Furthermore, some might redirect to malicious websites or even execute scripts that download and install malware or other PUPs. Therefore, clicking these ads can result in high-risk adware or malware infections. We strongly advise you to uninstall History Cleaner adware immediately.

As mentioned above, History Cleaner is identical to a number of other adware-type applications. Although, these PUPs offer different functionality, they have identical behavior. Adware-type apps are designed only to generate revenue for the developers. All claims to provide 'useful features' are simply attempts to trick users to install.
They deliver no significant value for regular users. History Cleaner, and other similar apps, deliver intrusive online advertisements (using the "Pay Per Click" advertising model) and record various user-system information (which is mostly sold to third parties).
How did History Cleaner install on my computer?
History Cleaner adware has an official promotion website, however, PUPs are also proliferated using the aforementioned intrusive ads, and via a deceptive marketing method called "bundling" (stealth installation of third party programs with regular software/apps). Therefore, users often install adware inadvertently, without their consent. Developers hide bundled apps within the "Custom/Advanced" settings of the download/installation processes. Clicking intrusive ads, rushing the download/installation processes and skipping steps, exposes systems to risk of various infections and compromises users' privacy.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
The two main reasons for computer infections are poor threat knowledge and careless behavior. Therefore, be cautious when browsing the Internet. PUPs are distributed via intrusive ads and bundling. Therefore, avoid clicking ads. Cyber criminals put a great deal of time and effort into making these ads appear legitimate.
Therefore, it becomes virtually impossible to determing if they originate from the visited website. Do not take the risk to click them. In addition, be cautious when downloading and installing software. Choose the direct download link rather than using third party downloaders.
Furthermore, carefully analyze download/installation processes using the "Custom" or "Advanced" settings, and opt-out of all additionally-included programs. Bundled software is often malicious and, thus, should never be installed.
