History Open Adware

What is History Open?
History Open is a deceptive application that supposedly enhances the web browsing experience by providing quick access to the browsing history.
Judging on appearance alone, History Open may seem legitimate and useful, however, this app is categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware. There are three main reasons for these negative associations: 1) stealth installation without consent; 2) display of intrusive advertisements, and; 3) tracking of users' Internet browsing activity.
Following infiltration, History Open generates pop-up, coupon, banner, and other similar ads. To achieve this, developers employ a "virtual layer" - a tool that enables placement of third party graphical content on any site. Therefore, displayed ads often conceal underlying content, significantly diminishing the the browsing experience.
In addition, they might lead to malicious websites and even accidental clicks can result in high-risk adware or malware infections. Furthermore, Internet browsing activity is continually monitored, since History Open records various user-system information that might be personally identifiable.
The list of collected data types includes (but is not limited to) IP addresses, URLs visited, pages viewed, and search queries. This information is shared with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who misuse private details to generate revenue. This behavior can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft.
Thus, the presence of an information-tracking app such as History Open can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. For these reasons, History Open adware should be uninstalled immediately.

History Open is virtually identical to History Button, Open Plugins, Cookies On-Off, and hundreds of other adware-type applications. As with History Open, these PUPs also claim to provide 'useful functionality', however, they give no significant value for regular users.
These claims are simply attempts to give the impression of legitimacy. The only purpose of all adware is to generate revenue for the developers. Apps such as History Open merely deliver intrusive ads and record user-system information.
Note - if this adware was installed as "Installed by Enterprise Policy" on your Chrome browser, follow this guide.
