Mac Optimizer Pro Unwanted Application (Mac)

What is Mac Optimizer Pro?

Mac Optimizer Pro is promoted as software for cleaning and optimizing Mac Operating Systems, however, due to the dubious techniques used to proliferate this app, it is classified as a Potentially Unwanted Application (PUA). Software within this classification may be nonoperational and/or have undisclosed capabilities.

MessengerNow Adware

What is MessengerNow?

MessengerNow is advertised as an app that allows users to send texts, make video chats, and form plans on their smartphones or desktop computers. This may seem a legitimate and useful app, however, it has been identified as adware, a type of software that most people download and install unintentionally.

These are known as potentially unwanted apps (PUAs). Typically, installed adware displays unwanted advertisements and collects information relating to users.

Superduniya.com Ads

What is superduniya[.]com?

Typically, users do not visit superduniya[.]com or other similar websites (e.g., pragatimeg[.]com, potentingond[.]club, gdimmunical[.]club) intentionally - they are opened by browsers that have potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) installed on them. Generally, web pages such as superduniya[.]com promote other bogus sites or display dubious content.

Arrow Ransomware

What is Arrow?

Arrow belongs to the Dharma ransomware family. Like many other programs of this type, it encrypts data, renames all encrypted files and provides victims with instructions about how to contact the developers (and various other details). Arrow renames files by adding the victim's ID, biashabtc@redchan.it email address and appending the ".arrow" extension to filenames.

For example, "1.jpg" is renamed to "1.jpg.id-C279F237.[biashabtc@redchan.it].arrow", "2.jpg" to "2.jpg.id-C279F237.[biashabtc@redchan.it].arrow", and so on. Instructions about how to contact the developers (ransom messages) are provided in a displayed pop-up window and the "FILES ENCRYPTED.txt" text file.

Consumer Opinion Adware (Mac)

What is Consumer Opinion?

Consumer Opinion is rogue software classified as adware. Additionally, this application has browser hijacker characteristics. Therefore, following successful infiltration, Consumer Opinion runs intrusive advertisement campaigns and makes changes to browser settings to promote fake search engines.

Most adware-type apps and browser hijackers monitor users' browsing activity, and it is likely that Consumer Opinion does so as well. Due to the dubious techniques used to proliferate this app, it is also classified as a Potentially Unwanted Application (PUA).

TotalConsoleSearch Adware (Mac)

What is TotalConsoleSearch?

In most cases, users download and install apps such as TotalConsoleSearch inadvertently and, therefore, they are categorized as potentially unwanted applications (PUAs). In this way, TotalConsoleSearch functions as adware and a browser hijacker. It is possible that it also collects information.

TNT EXPRESS Email Virus

What is the "TNT EXPRESS" email virus?

"TNT EXPRESS" is a spam campaign designed to spread the Agent Tesla RAT (Remote Access Trojan). The term "spam campaign" is used to define a mass-scale operation, during which thousands of scam emails are sent.

The deceptive messages distributed through this spam campaign are disguised as mail from TNT Express, a legitimate international courier service company and a subsidiary of the FedEx multinational delivery service giant. These fake "TNT EXPRESS" emails are in no way associated with the genuine TNT Express or FedEx.

The purpose of this spam mail is to proliferate malware. Agent Tesla is malicious software that operates by enabling remote access and control over infected systems. RATs can have a wide variety of dangerous capabilities that can cause likewise varied issues.

Exorcist 2.0 Ransomware

What is Exorcist 2.0?

Exorcist 2.0 is a new variant of Exorcist ransomware. This variant was discovered by JAMESWT. It blocks access to files by encryption, changes their filenames and creates an HTA file (an executable which opens a ransom message) in all folders that contain encrypted files. Exorcist 2.0 renames files by appending a string of random characters as their new extension.

For example, "1.jpg" is renamed to "1.jpg.vQznnv", "2.jpg" to "2.jpg.vQznnv", and so on. Additionally, this ransomware creates a key file for each encrypted file.

Pragatimeg.com Ads

What is pragatimeg[.]com?

Similar to potentingond.club, gdimmunical.club, kangstools.com, arttowardstic.club and thousands of others, pragatimeg[.]com is a rogue website. Visitors to this page are presented with dubious content and/or are redirected to other untrusted or possibly malicious sites.

Most users access pragatimeg[.]com and similar sites via redirects caused by intrusive ads or Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) already infiltrated into their devices. These apps do not need explicit user consent to be installed onto systems. PUAs force-open dubious/dangerous websites, deliver intrusive advertisement campaigns and collect browsing-related data.

Potentingond.club Ads

What is potentingond[.]club?

potentingond[.]club is one of many websites that, once visited, open various untrusted pages or load dubious content. Some examples of other web pages similar to potentingond[.]club are gdimmunical[.]club, cda-google[.]com and kangstools[.]com.

Browsers commonly open these sites when potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) are installed on them. I.e., users do not often visit these pages intentionally.
