Theater-Max removal instructions
What is Theater-Max?
Theater-Max is a rogue browser extension developed by Robokid Technologies. The developers of this browser add-on employ a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' to install Theater-Max on Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox) without users' permission. This method installs additional programs together with the chosen software, and therefore, many users inadvertently install Theater-Max during download of free software via small programs called 'download clients' on freeware download websites. Although this rogue browser add-on claims to enhance the Youtube experience by allowing adjustment of computer screen lights when watching videos (which may seem useful and legitimate functionality), be aware that Theater-Mode is categorized as adware or a potentially unwanted application. Following successful infiltration, Theater-Max tracks users' Internet browsing activity, generates intrusive online advertisements, and reduces browser performance.
Theater-Max generates numerous intrusive online advertisements such as inline text, coupon, banner, transitional, pop-up/under, and price comparison ads. Clicking advertisements generated by this rogue browser add-on is likely to cause high-risk adware or malware infections. In addition, Theater-Max continually monitors users' Internet browsing activity by recording various software and hardware information that may be personally identifiable. For example: Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, geographic locations, unique identifier numbers, browser types, cookies, search queries entered into search engines (Google, Bing, etc.), website URLs visited, pages viewed, and other similar details. This behavior may result in serious privacy issues or identity theft, and for this reason, you are strongly advised to uninstall Theater-Max from your Internet browsers.
Theater-Max is similar to other rogue browser add-ons that use bundling as an installation method. Cinema-Plus, HQube, Savings Plugin, and SuperIntext are just some examples among many others. These browser extensions are useless to the user - their purpose is to generate revenue by the display of intrusive online advertisements. Theater-Max is distributed together with free software downloaded via download clients on freeware download websites such as download.com, soft32.com, softonic.com, and many others. Download clients are used by these websites as free service monetization tools since they offer installation of promoted (according to the developers, '100% virus-free') browser add-ons together with the chosen free software. Thus, reckless download and installation of freeware results in adware or malware infections. To prevent installation of Theater-Max, or other potentially unwanted applications, be attentive when downloading free software and never accept installation of any additional programs offered. If you are installing downloaded software, select the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' installation options - this will reveal any hidden applications listed for installation and allow you to decline them. Internet users who have already installed Theater-Max, and observe intrusive online advertisements while surfing the Internet, should read the following removal guide and eliminate this adware from their Internet browsers.
