SMSfromBrowser Toolbar

What is SMSfromBrowser?
SMSfromBrowser is presented as a browser toolbar allowing users to send mobile text messages (SMS) via their Internet browsers.
This functionality might seem legitimate, however, this application often infiltrates systems without users’ permission. In addition, SMSfromBrowser modifies Internet browser settings and gathers various information relating to users' web browsing activity. For these reasons, SMSfromBrowser is categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and a browser hijacker.
Once infiltrated, SMSfromBrowser immediately assigns the Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox new tab URL, default search engine, and homepage browser settings to home.tb.ask.com. In addition, users are unable to return browsers to their previous states, since SMSfromBrowser reassigns settings to home.tb.ask.com when attempts are made to change them.
This situation leads to continual unwanted browser redirects, significantly diminishing the Internet browsing experience. In addition, SMSfromBrowser continually monitors users' web browsing activity and collects various information including IP addresses, websites visited, pages viewed, search queries, etc.
This recorded data might contain personally identifiable information that is shared with third parties, who misuse it to generate revenue. Thus, having SMSfromBrowser installed on your computer can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. Uninstall SMSfromBrowser PUP immediately.
The developers of this browser hijacker (Mindspark Interactive Network) have released many other identical bogus programs including MyTransitPlanner, InboxNow, and FreeLocalWeather. All claim to provide useful functionality, however, these false claims are merely attempts to trick users to install.
These apps are developed only to generate revenue for Mindspark Interactive Network. They deliver no significant value for users - SMSfromBrowser causes unwanted browser redirects and tracks Internet browsing activity.
How did SMSfromBrowser install on my computer?
Although SMSfromBrowser has an official download website, many users install this application inadvertently, since many user do not pay enough attention when downloading and installing software. Developers employ a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' - stealth installation of potentially unwanted programs with regular software/apps.
They hide bundled software within the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings of the download/installation processes. By skipping this section, users often install potentially unwanted programs inadvertently.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
The key to computer safety is caution. Never rush the download or installation processes. Closely analyze the 'Custom/Advanced' sections and opt-out of all additionally-included programs.
