What is search.dailybugget.com?
On initial inspection, search.dailybugget.com may seem to be a legitimate Internet search engine, however, this site is promoted using deceptive software set-ups developed to stealthily modify web browser settings during installation. In addition, this site gathers various information relating to Internet browsing activity.
Dubious software 'installers' assign the Safari, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome default search engine, homepage, and new tab URL browser settings to search.dailybugget.com.
Third party apps/browser plug-ins called 'helper objects' are then installed, which prevent users from returning browsers to their previous states (helper objects automatically reassign settings to search.dailybugget.com when users attempt to modify them). This leads to continual unwanted browser redirects, significantly diminishing the Internet browsing experience.
Note that users who attempt to search the Internet via this site are redirected to yahoo.com (a legitimate Internet search engine) and, therefore, search.dailybugget.com poses no direct threat to the Internet browsing safety.
Despite this, search.dailybugget.com collects IP addresses, search queries, websites visited, and other similar data that might be personally identifiable. This information is shared with third parties who misused it to generate revenue. Thus, visiting search.dailybugget.com can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft.
If you are continually redirected to this website without your consent, uninstall all recently-installed suspicious applications. You are strongly advised not to use the search.dailybugget.com website.
search.dailybugget.com is identical to search.dashingpool.com and shares many similarities with search.yourpackagesnow.com, ooxxsearch.com, and hundreds of other dubious sites. All claim to enhance the Internet browsing experience, and yet, none provide any valuable functionality.
Dubious websites such as search.dailybugget.com are designed only to generate revenue for the developers. Rather than enabling the promised functions, these sites track Internet browsing activity, deliver intrusive advertisements, and cause unwanted browser redirects.
How did search.dailybugget.com install on my computer?
search.dailybugget.com is promoted using deceptive software 'installers' that bundle potentially unwanted programs. The developers know that many users do not express enough caution during the download and installation processes and, thus, conceal bogus programs within the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings.
By skipping this section, users commonly install bogus software inadvertently, thereby putting their system and privacy at risk.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Installation of PUPs can be prevented by taking two simple steps. Firstly, never rush when downloading and installing software - closely analyze each step of these processes. Secondly, decline all third party software listed for download or installation.
