BuzzingDhol Unwanted Application
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is BuzzingDhol?
According to the developers, BuzzingDhol notifies users of various local and international events such as festivals, concerts, etc. - "BuzzingDhol allows you to discover the events that are getting a lot of buzz around you. Buzzing NOW: local or international music festivals, concerts, meet-ups, conferences, social events, sports events, fundraisers, shows, movies or anything happening in your locality."
By falsely claiming to provide valuable functionality, developers often trick users into believing that BuzzingDhol is a legitimate application, however, due to its rogue behavior, BuzzingDhol is categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP). As well as stealthily installing without users' consent, BuzzingDhol tracks Internet browsing activity.
After system infiltration, BuzzingDhol tracks various information relating to Internet browsing activity including browser/platform version, geo-location, IP addresses, and browsing details (including cookies). Many users are unaware that this data may be personally identifiable and shared with third parties who misuse personal data to generate revenue.
Therefore, data tracking can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. This adware is also known to show fake system error messages and thus trick PC users into calling rogue tech support providers. For these reasons, we strongly advise you to uninstall BuzzingDhol immediately.
BuzzingDhol has similar behavior to PepperZip, Provider, Security Guard, and hundreds of other potentially unwanted programs. These applications give fake promises to enable valuable functionality, however, such false claims are merely attempts to trick users to install.
Bogus software such as BuzzingDhol are designed only to generate revenue for the developers. Rather than providing any real value for the users, potentially unwanted programs cause unwanted browser redirects, gather personally identifiable information, and deliver intrusive advertisements.
How did BuzzingDhol install on my computer?
BuzzingDhol has an official download website. Additionally, this PUP is distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' - stealth installation of additional programs with regular software/apps. For this reason, many users install this application without their consent.
Users often do not pay enough attention when downloading and installing software. Aware of this, developers bundle software and hide it within the 'Custom/Advanced' settings. By skipping this section and rushing the download/installation processes, users expose their systems to risk of infection.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Installation of potentially unwanted programs can be prevented by taking two simple steps. Firstly, closely analyze each step of the software download and installation process - select the 'Custom/Advanced' settings and carefully observe these procedures. Secondly, all additionally-included programs should be cancelled.
