What is ViperDJ?
ViperDJ is presented as multi-functional sound mixing software - "ViperDJ is one of the most intuitive and simplest mixing programs you have ever tried. It has a clear and robust interface and multiple useful functions."
On initial inspection, this app may seem legitimate, however, be aware that ViperDJ often infiltrates systems without users’ permission, generates intrusive online ads, and continually monitors Internet browsing activity. Therefore, it is categorized as a potentially unwanted adware-type program (PUP).
This app mostly generates banner and pop-up ads. Many users are unaware that none of these originate from the visited web pages. This is due to a 'virtual layer', which ViperDJ employs to deliver them. The third party ads often conceal website content, thereby significantly diminishing the Internet browsing experience.
Be aware that some redirect to bogus sites containing infectious content. Thus, clicking them risks system infection with high-risk adware or malware.
In addition, ViperDJ tracks and gathers various Internet browsing-related information including Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, websites visited, pages viewed - these are just some examples from many recorded data types, all of which are later shared with third party companies.
Some of this collected information might contain personally identifiable details that third parties can misuse to generate revenue. Thus, having ViperDJ installed on your system can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. For these reasons, you should uninstall this PUP immediately. ViperDJ is identical to MiulDownloads, FullAudioConverter, DownloaderPlus, and a number of other apps.
Although, they offer different features, all are created by the same developers and have identical behavior - they purport to enable a number of useful functions, however, rather than providing any real value, apps such as ViperDJ display intrusive online advertisements and continually monitor and gather personally identifiable data. Their real purpose is to generate revenue for the developers.
How did ViperDJ install on my computer?
Be aware that ViperDJ is mostly proliferated using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' - stealth installation of third party applications with the chosen software/apps. Research shows that many users rush when downloading and installing software, since they do not expect third party applications to be concealed.
For this reason, developers intentionally hide bogus apps such as ViperDJ within the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings. By skipping this section, users often install bogus applications inadvertently, thus exposing their systems to risk of further infection and putting their privacy at risk.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
To prevent installation of adware-type programs, be attentive during the download and installation processes. Bear in mind that potentially unwanted programs are often concealed, and therefore, you should select the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings and closely analyze each step. Most bundled applications are rogue - never accept any offers to download or install these apps.
