What is Astro Find?
Astro Find is a deceptive application created by SuperWeb LLC. According to the developers, this app improves the Internet browsing experience by delivering coupons, displaying special deals/discounts available on shopping websites, enabling comparison shopping, and by providing other similar functionality - "We're passionate about improving web by providing the best tools to enhance the browsing experience, from searching the web to comparing online deals to find the best prices. We've combined all of our great ideas into the Astro Find product suite, a FREE set of tools that work to make your browsing experience... better!"
Astro Find generates intrusive online advertisements and continually monitors users' Internet browsing activity. Therefore, although it may seem a legitimate application, it is categorized as a potentially unwanted adware-type program (PUP). In addition, Astro Find infiltrates systems without users’ permission.
Astro Find usually generates pop-up, banner, interstitial, transitional, full-page, search, and coupon ads. Note that all are delivered using a ‘virtual layer’ and none originate from your visited web pages. Third party advertisements often conceal underlying website content, thereby significantly diminishing the browsing experience.
Furthermore, some redirect to bogus sites and users are forced to continually avoid clicking them. There is a high probability that intrusive online advertisements will cause high-risk adware or malware infections when clicked.
In addition, Astro Find gathers Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, unique identifier numbers, website URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries entered into search engines, and other information relating to Internet browsing activity. Bear in mind that some of this information might contain personal details.
SuperWeb LLC later shares the collected data with third party companies who will misuse it to generate revenue. Therefore, having Astro Find installed on your system can lead to high-risk adware or malware infections. We strongly recommend that you eliminate this threat immediately.
Astro Find Privacy Policy statement regarding data collection:
We only share or sell your non-public personal information with non-affiliated third parties when we believe doing so is permitted by you or authorized by this Privacy Policy. In addition, the Company may share your personal information with our parent, subsidiary or affiliate companies without restriction.
Note that SuperWeb LLC has released several hundred potentially unwanted programs that are identical to Astro Find. Video Tile, Fresh Outlook, and Monarch Find are just some examples from many.
Although these ads claim to enhance the Internet browsing experience, none provide any real value for users. SuperWeb LLC aims to generate as much revenue as possible, and therefore, its products merely generate intrusive online ads and collect personally identifiable details.
How did Astro Find install on my computer?
This company distributes Astro Find using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' - stealth installation of potentially unwanted programs with the chosen software/apps. Many users are unaware that developers often hide rogue applications within the 'Custom/Advanced' settings and rush when downloading and installing software.
By skipping this section, they expose their systems to risk of infection and often inadvertently install rogue applications. The developers are concerned only with the amount of revenue generated (which is dependent on the number of apps distributed), and thus, do not properly disclose installation of apps such as Astro Find.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Be aware that adware-type applications are often concealed. For these reasons, you should never rush when downloading and installing software. Closely analyze each step of these processes using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings. In addition, most bundled software is rogue - never accept offers to download/install additional apps.
