Sonic Train Adware

What is Sonic Train?
Developed by SuperWeb LLC, Sonic Train claims to improve the Internet browsing experience by displaying coupons, enabling comparison shopping, and other similar features - "We're passionate about improving web by providing the best tools to enhance the browsing experience, from searching the web to comparing online deals to find the best prices. We've combined all of our great ideas into the Sonic Train product suite, a FREE set of tools that work to make your browsing experience... better!"
At first glance, this bogus app may seem legitimate, however, be aware that Sonic Train is a potentially unwanted adware-type program (PUP). After stealthily infiltrating Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, Sonic Train generates intrusive online advertisements and tracks Internet browsing activity.
This bogus app records Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, unique identifier numbers, website URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, and other similar information. This data is later shared with third parties. Some information recorded might be personally identifiable and there is a chance that third parties will misuse it to generate revenue.
Therefore, the presence of Sonic Train adware on your system can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. Furthermore, this application employs a virtual layer to generate a wide range of intrusive online advertisements (pop-up, interstitial, transitional, full-page, search, banner, etc.), none of which originate from your visited websites and conceal underlying web content.
Furthermore, some may redirect to malicious websites containing infectious content, thereby significantly diminishing the Internet browsing experience and potentially leading to high-risk adware/malware infections when clicked. You are strongly advised to uninstall this PUP immediately.
Sonic Train Privacy Policy statement regarding data collection:
We only share or sell your non-public personal information with non-affiliated third parties when we believe doing so is permitted by you or authorized by this Privacy Policy. In addition, the Company may share your personal information with our parent, subsidiary or affiliate companies without restriction.
SuperWeb LLC has released hundreds of identical adware-type apps that include Sonic Train. Steel Cut, Deal Maverick, Results Hub, and Maximum Maker are just some examples from a long list. Although they claim to improve Internet browsing, none deliver any real value.
SuperWeb LLC releases identical applications under different names to avoid detection by anti-virus and anti-spyware suites. These applications are designed solely to generate revenue for the developers - they merely collect personally identifiable information and deliver intrusive ads.
How did Sonic Train install on my computer?
Sonic Train is mostly distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' - stealth installation of PUPs with regular software/apps.
Many users do not express enough caution when downloading and installing software, and since bogus applications such as Sonic Train are concealed within the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings, reckless download and installation often results in inadvertent installation of PUPs. In doing so, users expose their systems to risk of infection.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
To avoid this situation, pay close attention during the download and installation processes. Choose the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options, rather than 'Quick' or 'Typical'. Closely analyze each step and opt-out of all bundled programs listed for download/installation. The key to computer safety is caution - be attentive during these processes.
