Ads by TheAdBlock

What is TheAdBlock?
TheAdBlock claims to be a legitimate app that blocks intrusive online advertisements - "Websites survive because of ads coming from private sponsors. Taking these ads down would be very impossible. Of course, it is at the expense of the visitors. If you hate seeing these ads popping all over the place, just use TheAdBlock. Your problem will be solved instantly."
Some users may believe that TheAdBlock is a legitimate and useful app, however, it is categorized as adware and a potentially unwanted program (PUP). After stealthily infiltrating Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, TheAdBlock generates advertisements and monitors Internet browsing activity.
Although TheAdBlock claims to block advertisements, it actually generates them. This app delivers pop-up, banner, coupon, and other similar advertisements using a virtual layer, which enables placement of third party graphical content on any visited website.
This behavior considerably diminishes the Internet browsing experience, since the displayed ads hide underlying content and users must continually avoid clicking them. Furthermore, clicked advertisements can lead to rogue websites and result in other computer infections.
TheAdBlock tracks and records various Internet browsing-related information, some of which may be personally identifiable. The data is later shared with third parties, and therefore, the presence of TheAdBlock adware on your system can lead to serious privacy issues. You are strongly advised to uninstall TheAdBlock immediately.
TheAdBlock is identical to Extreme Blocker and there are hundreds of other rogue applications all with very similar behavior. Applications such as BestSaveForYou, Vidzy, BrowsrApVs, and StormAlerts offer various features simply to trick users to install.
After infiltrating the system, they simply display advertisements and collect user/system data. The purpose of TheAdBlock, and other similar apps, is to generate revenue for the developers - they provide no real value to the user.
How did TheAdBlock install on my computer?
The developers distribute TheAdBlock adware as a 'bundle' with other (often free) software. Developers are aware that many users do not express enough caution when downloading and installing software, and so they intentionally conceal rogue apps within the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings.
By rushing the download and installation processes and skipping most/all of the steps, users inadvertently expose their systems to risk of infection and go on to install rogue applications.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
The key to computer safety is caution. Do not rush the download or installation processes. Each step must be closely analyzed to ensure that only the chosen application is downloaded/installed. In addition, these processes should be performed using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options - this will reveal any hidden third party software listed for installation and enable you to opt-out.
