Dig Deep Adware

What is Dig Deep?
Developed by SuperWeb LLC, Dig Deep claims to enhance the Internet browsing experience by displaying coupons, enabling comparison shopping, and providing other similar features
- "We're passionate about improving web by providing the best tools to enhance the browsing experience, from searching the web to comparing online deals to find the best prices. We've combined all of our great ideas into the Dig Deep product suite, a FREE set of tools that work to make your browsing experience... better!"
These promises are false, since Dig Deep is considered to be adware and a potentially unwanted program (PUP). This rogue app installs on Internet browsers without users' permission. Furthermore, it displays intrusive online advertisements and collects Internet browsing-related information.
The Dig Deep adware employs a virtual layer to display coupons, banners, pop-ups, interstitial, transitional, full-page, and other similar advertisements. Note that some ads are opened in new browser tabs or windows. A virtual layer allows placement of third party graphical content that does not originate from the visited website.
Research shows that most ads redirect to e-commerce websites such as online stores, however, users may also be redirected to infectious rogue websites. Thus, clicking these advertisements can lead to high-risk computer infections. Dig Deep gathers various types of Internet browsing-related information.
In the Privacy Policy, the developers state that this information does not contain details that could identify the user. This statement is false, since collected data includes Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, websites visited, pages viewed, search queries, and other information that may clearly be personally identifiable.
These details may later be shared with third parties and misused to generate revenue, thereby causing serious privacy issues or even identity theft. You are strongly advised to uninstall Dig Deep adware from your computer.
Dig Deep Privacy Policy statement regarding data collection:
We only share or sell your non-public personal information with non-affiliated third parties when we believe doing so is permitted by you or authorized by this Privacy Policy. In addition, the Company may share your personal information with our parent, subsidiary or affiliate companies without restriction.
Dig Deep belongs to a family of bogus applications developed by SuperWeb LLC. This company has released several hundred identical PUPs under different names to prevent detection by legitimate anti-spyware and anti-virus suites. Sail Deals, Giants Galaxy, Fresh Outlook, BeepieBear, and On Stage are just some examples.
None of these applications (including Dig Deep) are useful to the user. Their purpose is to generate revenue for the developers by displaying advertisements and sharing collected information - they provide none of the features promised.
How did Dig Deep install on my computer?
Dig Deep employs a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of third party apps together with regular software) to infiltrate the system.
Users often rush the download and installation processes and skip most steps. Rogue applications such as Dig Deep are usually hidden within the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' installation section, and therefore, skipping these settings leads to inadvertent installation of bogus apps without users' consent.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Firstly, download your chosen software from the official website where possible. If downloading from a freeware download website, select the direct download link - some webpages still provide this option.
Most freeware download websites, however, monetize their traffic and free services via 'download managers' designed to include installation of additional programs (presented as 'legitimate', despite being bogus). For this reason, closely analyze each step of the download procedure and decline any offers to install third party applications.
Finally, software should be installed using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options - this will reveal any third party software listed for installation and enable you to opt-out.
