Sale Clipper Ads

What is Sale Clipper?
Sale Clipper is regular adware claiming to save time and money while shopping online by offering features such as display of special deals/discounts, coupons, and enabling comparison shopping. Although some users may find this functionality legitimate and useful, it is a scam to trick them into installation of Sale Clipper.
This rogue browser plug-in is distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling', and therefore, it is categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP). The bundling method is popular with developers of rogue software, since it is an easy way to stealthily install third party applications during download/installation of regular software without users' permission.
The rogue behavior of Sale Clipper includes the display of intrusive online advertisements. After infiltration on popular Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox), Sale Clipper employs a virtual layer, which allows placement of graphical content on any website visited.
Furthermore, some advertisements are opened in new tabs/windows - this can cause users to inadvertently click ads. Commonly, displayed ads (banners, pop-ups, interstitial, transitional, full-page, coupons, search, etc.) redirect users to various commercial websites such as online stores or to others offering services.
Despite this, there a high probability that users will be redirected to untrusted sites that may contain infectious content, and therefore, clicking these ads can lead to high-risk computer infections.
Furthermore, Sale Clipper adware tracks users' Internet browsing activity and collects various types of browsing-related information. Sale Clipper's Privacy Policy states that collected information contains no personal details, and that the user will remain anonymous. Research shows, however, that these statements are false.
The gathered information includes websites visited, pages viewed, search queries entered into search engines, unique identifier numbers, Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, and other details. Clearly, this type of information may contain personally identifiable details.
Furthermore, collected information (which may include banking details) is later shared with third parties (possibly, cyber criminals), and therefore, having this application installed on your system can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. You are strongly advised to eliminate this application immediately.
Sale Clipper belongs to a 'family' of adware-type browser plug-ins developed by SuperWeb LLC. This company releases identical browser add-ons under different names to avoid detection by legitimate anti-spyware and anti-virus suites.
As well as Sale Clipper, On Stage, Larparus, Deals Avenue, Jungle Net, and other apps developed by SuperWeb LLC offer identical features (display of coupons and comparison shopping).
This, however, is merely an attempt to present Sale Clipper as legitimate and useful. In fact, it provides no real value to the user - its purpose is to generate revenue by the display of intrusive online adverts and sharing collected data with third parties. Adware developed by this company is often distributed together with free software on freeware download websites.
These sites enforce the use of 'download managers' to download the desired software. Download.com, softonic.com, soft32.com, and other similar websites, claim that download managers 'significantly ease and speed-up the download procedure', and yet, these apps are developed to offer (or simply hide) installation of additional programs together with the chosen software.
These promoted apps are described as 'guaranteed virus-free', however, reckless download and installation often results in adware or malware infections. For these reasons, decline offers to install third party apps. If you have installed Sale Clipper, and you observe intrusive ads while browsing the Internet, follow the instructions below to uninstall this PUP.
How did Sale Clipper install on my computer?
Sale Clipper is distributed using the bundling method, and therefore, it may be installed inadvertently. Many users skip steps during the software download/installation procedure, thereby causing installation of unwanted applications.
Third party software is often hidden within the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options, and since these options are usually skipped, this installation route is effective. The developers are unconcerned with proper discloser of installations, since their aim is to distribute as many apps as possible.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
If a direct download link is not available, and you are forced to use a download manager, closely inspect each step of the free software download procedure and opt-out of any third party software included. Software should be downloaded from the official website where possible.
Similarly, for installation, select the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options, rather than 'Quick' or 'Typical' - this will reveal any concealed applications listed for installation and allow you to cancel them. The software download and installation processes should always be performed with caution.
