What is Cash Reminder?
Cash Reminder is a rogue application owned by Related.Deals LLC. This app claims to help users save money by enabling them to claim back a certain percentage of any purchases made. This may seem legitimate functionality, however, Cash Reminder is a potentially unwanted program (PUP).
This rogue application is distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' - stealth installation of additional programs together with the chosen software.
Once installed, Cash Reminder infiltrates Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox) and generates numerous intrusive online advertisements such as coupon, comparison shopping, banner, pop-up, etc.
Be aware that these advertisements are likely to redirect users to bogus websites containing infectious content, and consequently, cause further high-risk adware or malware infections.
Cash Reminder also performs information tracking by collecting various software and hardware information that may include personally identifiable details. For example: search queries entered into search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.), websites visited, pages viewed, Internet Protocol (IP) addresses (to determine users' geographic locations), etc.
This behavior can lead to serious privacy issues. There are many Adware-type applications similar to Cash Reminder, including Boby Zoom, GetNow, Save Serp Now, and Protectium.
These applications offer similar features, but none provide any real value for the user - their purpose is to generate revenue by sharing collected data with third parties and generating intrusive online advertisements. For this reason, you are strongly advised to uninstall Cash Reminder from your system.
Cash Reminder is mostly distributed via small 'download programs' (also called 'installers', 'download clients', 'download managers', etc.) employed by freeware download websites such as download.com, soft32.com, and softonic.com.
Download programs are used to monetize these websites' free services and traffic by offering installation of additional (according to the developers, '100% legitimate and virus-free') applications or browser plug-ins together with the chosen software. Despite these claims, careless freeware download and installation mostly results in adware or malware infections.
To avoid this situation, closely examine the steps of the free software download procedure and ensure that no additional programs are included.
Furthermore, install all downloaded applications using the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' installation options - this will reveal any additional apps listed for installation and allow you to opt-out. If you have installed Cash Reminder, follow the guide below to eliminate this adware from your system.
