What is Deal Keeper?
Developed by Super Web LLC, Deal Keeper is a rogue browser extension claiming to improve the quality of users' Internet browsing experience by enabling functions such as comparison shopping, coupons, and many others. The extension employs a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' to install on Internet browsers without users' consent.
Bundling allows the developers to stealthily distribute their applications together with the chosen software, and therefore, most users install Deal Keeper during download of free software. Although this browser plug-in may seem useful and legitimate, be aware that Deal Keeper is categorized as adware or a potentially unwanted program (PUP).
Following successful infiltration on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, Deal Keeper monitors users' Internet browsing activity and generates intrusive online ads.
Deal Keeper generates various intrusive online advertisements including banner, interstitial, transitional, search, text-link, and full-page ads. It is highly probable that clicking these advertisements will cause high-risk adware or malware infections.
In addition, this potentially unwanted program continually tracks users' Internet browsing activity by recording various software and hardware information such as IP addresses, unique identifier numbers, search queries entered, website URLs visited, pages viewed, and other similar details that may be personally identifiable.
This behavior may result in serious privacy issues or even identity theft. Super Web LLC has released several hundred rogue browser add-ons identical to Deal Keeper. HypeNet, Quantum Look, EnhanceEmpire, and PursuePoint are just a few examples among many others.
None of these add any real value for the user. This company intentionally releases identical browser extensions under different names to avoid detection by legitimate anti-virus and anti-spyware programs - the purpose of these plug-ins is to generate revenue by the display of intrusive online advertisements.
Therefore, you are strongly advised to eliminate Deal Keeper adware from your Internet browsers. Our recent close examination reveals that Deal Keeper is mostly distributed via small programs called 'download clients' on freeware download websites such as download.com, soft32.com, softonic.com, among many others.
Download clients are used to monetize these websites' free services by offering installation of promoted (according to the developers, '100% virus-free') browser extensions together with the chosen free software.
Thus, reckless download and installation of freeware often results in adware or malware infections. To avoid installation of Deal Keeper, or other similar adware, closely inspect each step of the free software download process and click 'Decline' if installation of any additional programs is offered.
In addition, each downloaded program should be installed using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' installation options, rather than 'Quick' or 'Regular' - this will reveal any bundled applications listed for installation and allow you to decline them.
