Couponarific Ads

What is Couponarific?
Created by a Delaware company of the same name (Couponarific Inc.), Couponarific is a potentially unwanted browser extension claiming to save time and money by enabling coupons, comparison shopping, and displaying special deals/discounts when surfing shopping websites.
It is compatible with Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and although Couponarific's functionality may seem useful and legitimate, be aware that Couponarific is categorized as adware.
The developers of this potentially unwanted application employ a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' to install Couponarific on Internet browsers without users' permission. After successful infiltration, Couponarific tracks users' Internet browsing activity and generates intrusive online advertisements.
These intrusive advertisements include banner, in-text, interstitial, and coupon ads. While Couponarific is not technically considered to be a virus or malware, there is a high probability that clicking the advertisements generated by this adware will cause system infections.
In addition, users' Internet browsing activity is continually monitored, since Couponarific collects various software and hardware information such as operating systems, browser types, URLs visited, pages viewed, Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, unique identifier numbers, geographic locations, and other similar details, which may be personally identifiable.
Having Couponarific, or other similar adware installed on your computer (for example, Savings-Wizard, Coupon-Samurai, Price-Slicer, etc.) may result in serious privacy issues or identity theft, and for this reason, you are strongly advised to eliminate this potentially unwanted application from your Internet browsers.
Most adware, including Couponarific, is distributed together with free software downloaded from freeware download websites (such as download.com, soft32.com, softonic.com, and many others).
The majority of these websites employ small download programs to monetize their free services by offering installation of advertised 'virus-free' browser add-ons together with the chosen free software. Thus, reckless download and installation of freeware often results in adware or malware infections.
This situation can be prevented by closely inspecting each step of the freeware download process and clicking 'Decline' when installation of any additional programs is offered.
If you are installing downloaded software, select the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' installation options, rather than 'Quick' or 'Regular' - this will reveal any bundled applications listed for installation and allow you to decline them.
If you have already installed Couponarific, and experience intrusive online advertisements, follow this removal guide to eliminate this adware from your Internet browsers.
