What is karatoh?

Developed by SuperWeb LLC, Karatoh is a potentially unwanted browser extension claiming to improve users' Internet browsing experience by enabling coupons, comparison shopping, and adding other useful features. This may seem a legitimate browser add-on, however, it is considered to be adware.

Karatoh uses a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of additional applications together with the chosen software) to install on browsers without users' consent.

Following successful infiltration on Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome, Karatoh generates various intrusive online advertisements including interstitial, transitional, banner, search, text-link, and full-page ads.

Furthermore, users' Internet browsing activity is continually monitored, since this rogue browser plug-in records various software and hardware information such as URLs visited, search queries entered, pages viewed, IP addresses, unique identifier numbers, and other similar information.

Remove malicious extensions from Google Chrome:

Click the Chrome menu icon (at the top right corner of Google Chrome), select "Tools" and click on "Extensions". Locate: "Karatoh", select this entry and click the trash can icon.

Optional method:

If you continue to have problems with removal of the karatoh ads, reset your Google Chrome browser settings. Click the Chrome menu icon  (at the top right corner of Google Chrome) and select Settings. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen. Click the Advanced… link.

After scrolling to the bottom of the screen, click the Reset (Restore settings to their original defaults) button.

In the opened window, confirm that you wish to reset Google Chrome settings to default by clicking the Reset button.

Remove malicious plugins from Mozilla Firefox:

Click the Firefox menu (at the top right corner of the main window), select "Add-ons". Click on "Extensions", in the opened window, remove "Karatoh".

Optional method:

Computer users who have problems with karatoh ads removal can reset their Mozilla Firefox settings.

Open Mozilla Firefox, at the top right corner of the main window, click the Firefox menu, in the opened menu, click Help.

Select Troubleshooting Information.

In the opened window, click the Refresh Firefox button.

In the opened window, confirm that you wish to reset Mozilla Firefox settings to default by clicking the Refresh Firefox button.

Remove malicious extensions from Safari:

Make sure your Safari browser is active, click Safari menu, and select Preferences....
