What is Quiknowledge?
The Quiknowledge browser add-on claims to enhance users' Internet browsing experience by enabling quick searches and translation of selected text or entire paragraphs.
While this added functionality may seem legitimate, users should be aware that this plugin is categorized as a potentially unwanted application or adware, since it infiltrates browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox) using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' and also generates intrusive ads.
Furthermore, this plugin track users' Internet browsing activity - recording IP addresses, pages visited, frequency of pages viewed, users' browsing environment, display settings, and other information.
The presence of Quiknowledge on your system can cause high-risk malware infections (when clicking third party ads generated by this add-on) and can lead to serious privacy issues.
This adware infection is mostly caused by deceptive free software 'download clients', which offer installation of potentially unwanted programs together with the user's chosen free program. Today, most freeware download websites employ download clients to monetize their free services, thus, reckless free software downloading can result in adware infections.
Quiknowledge is not technically a virus or malware, however, clicking the third party links, and ads generated by this plugin, can cause security infections. For these reasons, you are advised to remove this adware from your Internet browser/s.
Quiknowledge is similar to other potentially unwanted programs, which install on Internet browsers without users' consent. Examples include fortunitas, ads clever, and freeven. These plug-ins promise to enhance users' Internet browsing experience by adding various features, however, they only diminish browser performance and generate unwanted ads.
To avoid installation of such adware, express caution when downloading and installing freeware. When downloading free programs, inspect each download step and opt-out of any advertised browser plug-in installations by clicking the 'decline' button.
When installing free software, choose the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' installation options, rather than 'Quick' or 'Typical' - this will list any intended installations of bundled adware.
Users who have unwillingly installed Quiknowledge and observe "Ads by Quiknowledge", "powered by Quiknowledge", and "Ad Info" advertisements when surfing the Internet, should use this removal guide to eliminate this adware from their Internet browser/s.
