What is Music toolbar?
Music Toolbar or Music Box Toolbar is a potentially unwanted application, which installs with free software downloaded from the Internet. At time of research, the toolbar installed together with the iMesh, jZip, and King Translate programs.
After successful installation, Music Toolbar assigns the Internet browser (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox) homepage and default search engine settings to search.ask.com Furthermore by installing this toolbar, users agree for the software to track their Internet browsing activity by recording IP addresses, search queries, ads clicked, and other information.
Developers of this toolbar claim that it makes users' Internet browsing more productive by enabling quick searches from the toolbar, quick links to radio, and free music, etc. In fact, Music Toolbar adds no significant value, and moreover, modifies users' Internet browser settings and diminishes browser performance.
This toolbar is not especially rogue, since it redirects users to a relatively legitimate Internet search engine (ask.com), however, this redirect is applied in order to monetize incoming web traffic rather that adding value for the user.
Music Toolbar is categorized as a potentially unwanted application or adware, and thus, you are advised to eliminate this toolbar from your system.
This toolbar is one of many potentially unwanted applications distributed through free software downloads and is similar to Babylon toolbar, Delta Search toolbar, and Findwide toolbar.
