How to remove TechProduct adware
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on
What kind of application is TechProduct?
Our researchers discovered TechProduct while investigating new file submissions to the VirusTotal site. This rogue application is classed as adware. TechProduct belongs to the AdLoad malware family. Advertising-supported software generates revenue for its developers/publishers through advertising.
TechProduct adware overview
Adware stands for advertising-supported software. Its primary function is to display third-party graphical content (e.g., overlays, pop-ups, coupons, etc.) on visited websites, desktops, or other interfaces.
Not all adware-type apps operate in this manner, and even if they do – they might require specific conditions (e.g., compatible browser/system or user geolocation, visits to particular sites, etc.). Regardless of whether TechProduct displays advertisements – it remains a threat to device and user safety.
Adware-delivered adverts promote online scams, unreliable/dangerous software, and even malware. Once clicked on, some of the ads can execute scripts to perform downloads/installations without user consent.
It is noteworthy that while genuine products or services may be encountered through the advertisements – they are unlikely to be endorsed in this manner by any official parties. It is most probable that this endorsement is undertaken by scammers who abuse the promoted content's affiliate programs to obtain illegitimate commissions.
AdLoad applications often have browser-hijacking abilities – however, we did not observe these qualities while testing TechProduct adware.
Usually, advertising-supported software collects sensitive user data, and this might also apply to TechProduct. Targeted information may include: visited URLs, viewed pages, searched queries, browser cookies, usernames/passwords, personally identifiable details, finance-related data, etc. The gathered information can be shared with or sold to third-parties.
To summarize, the presence of adware on devices is linked to system infections, serious privacy issues, financial losses, and even identity theft.

Adware examples
OverallVariety, ExpandedSync, UpgradeView, and DynamicEntry are just a few of our newest articles on adware. Applications and browser extensions within this classification usually appear legitimate and innocuous. Users may be enticed into downloading/installing this software by promises of useful functionalities, which are rarely operational. Keep in mind that functional features alone do not prove legitimacy or safety.
How did TechProduct install on my computer?
Adware can be bundled with regular programs. Downloading from dubious channels (e.g., freeware and free file-hosting sites, P2P sharing networks, etc.) and treating installations with negligence (e.g., ignoring terms, skipping steps, using "Quick/Easy" settings, etc.) – pose a threat of inadvertently allowing bundled content into the system.
Adware is also promoted on legitimate-looking download pages and scam websites. They are primarily accessed through redirects generated by sites that utilize rogue advertising networks, intrusive ads, spam browser notifications, misspelled URLs, and installed adware (with the ability to force-open webpages).
Intrusive advertisements spread advertising-supported software as well. Once clicked on, some of these adverts can execute scripts to perform sneaky downloads/installations.
How to avoid installation of adware?
We recommend researching software and downloading it from official/verified sources. When installing, it is important to read terms, inspect available options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings, and opt out of all supplementary apps, tools, extensions, and so forth.
We also advise caution when browsing since the Internet is full of well-disguised fake and malicious content. For example, intrusive ads may appear harmless – however, they redirect users to unreliable and questionable websites (e.g., adult dating, pornography, scam-promoting, gambling, etc.).
Should you keep encountering advertisements and/or redirects of this kind, inspect the system and immediately remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with TechProduct, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
