Online scams in general

Track-app[.]funclient-privacy[.]spacesecure-inform[.]spacedency[.]site, and ustrack[.]online are some examples of scam sites akin to churrasqueirataylor[.]com.

There are thousands of deceptive websites online; they use various models (e.g., warnings that the device is infected, alerts that a software product is outdated or missing, fake prize giveaways, unbelievable deals and offers, etc.) to gain and abuse users' trust.

How did potentially unwanted applications install on my computer?

PUAs are distributed using the "bundling" method - packing ordinary programs with unwanted/malicious additions. Rushed download/installation processes (e.g., used pre-set options, etc.) increase the risk of allowing bundled content into the device.

Some PUAs have "official" download sites, which are often promoted by deceptive webpages. Intrusive advertisements also proliferate these applications. Upon being clicked, the ads can execute scripts to make stealthy downloads/installations.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

It is advised to research software and download only from official/verified channels. Dubious sources, e.g., Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, unofficial and freeware websites, etc. - offer bundled content.

When downloading/installing, it is important to read terms, explore available options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings to opt-out from all additions. It is crucial to exercise caution when browsing. Intrusive adverts appear harmless; however, they redirect to questionable sites (e.g., gambling, pornography, adult-dating, etc.).

Should users encounter such ads and/or redirects, they must inspect their devices and immediately remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with PUAs, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate them.
