Removal instructions for apps that open legionship.club and similar sites

What is legionship[.]club?
legionship[.]club is one of many websites that should not be trusted - it promotes (opens) various other bogus web pages or displays dubious content. Commonly, browsers open websites such as legionship[.]club due to potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) installed on them.
I.e., users do not visit these sites intentionally. Some examples of other sites that function in a similar way to legionship[.]club are bo5news[.]biz, arguinely[.]club and lewsheaned[.]club.
Browsers with PUAs installed often open addresses such as legionship[.]club in a new window or tab. Once opened, they load dubious content or open other untrusted sites - the way these sites function depends on the geolocations of their visitors. Generally, these rogue pages use 'clickbait' techniques to trick visitors into allowing them to show notifications.
At the time of research, legionship[.]club suggested that visitors can continue browsing it or start the download process for a file by clicking the "Allow" button. If clicked, this gives visited websites permission to show their notifications. Websites such as legionship[.]club should not allowed to show notifications, since these might contain intrusive ads, links to dubious websites, etc.
Examples of notifications displayed by legionship[.]club are provided below. PUAs can also serve ads and gather information. Commonly, they display coupons, pop-ups, surveys, banners and other types of ads. When clicked, these tend to open dubious, potentially malicious pages or execute scripts designed to download and install PUAs.
Additionally, PUAs record IP addresses, entered search queries, geolocations, addresses of visited websites, other browsing-related details, and even private, sensitive data. The details are often misused to generate revenue by selling them to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) or in other ways.
Users with PUAs installed on browsers and/or operating systems might have problems relating to online privacy and browsing safety, and the collected data can even be used to steal their identities.

Commonly, developers advertise PUAs as useful, legitimate apps, which supposedly include various features, improve the browsing experience, etc.
In fact, most are designed only to generate revenue for the developers by promoting dubious websites (including legionship[.]club and other sites of this type), serving ads, and gathering data. Therefore, never download or install any PUAs.
How did adware install on my computer?
PUAs are often downloaded/installed together with other products. This deceptive marketing technique of pre-packing regular software with unwanted or malicious additions is called "bundling".
By rushing through download/installation of software (e.g. ignoring terms, skipping steps and sections, using "Quick/Express" settings, etc.) many users risk unintentionally allowing bundled content into their devices. Intrusive advertisements proliferate PUAs as well.
When clicked, the ads can execute scripts to download/install these applications without users' permission. Some PUAs have "official" download web pages from which they can be downloaded.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Download software and files from official websites and via direct links. It is not safe to use torrent clients, eMule (or other Peer-to-Peer networks), third party downloaders, unofficial websites or other sources of this kind. Avoid third party installers. Check "Advanced", "Custom" and other settings, and decline offers to download or install unwanted software.
Do not click ads that are displayed on dubious websites, since they can open other untrusted websites or even cause unwanted downloads and installations. Remove any unwanted, suspicious applications (extensions, add-ons, and plug-ins) that are installed on the browser.
The same should be applied to programs of this kind that are installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?
Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.
Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
