How to stop redirects to and from pushwinning.com
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is pushwinning[.]com?
pushwinning[.]com is a rogue website designed to present visitors with dubious material and/or redirect them to other malicious sites. Most users access pushwinning[.]com and similar pages unintentionally - they are redirected to them by intrusive ads or Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) already installed on the system.
Some examples of websites similar to pushwinning[.]com include Promosrewards.club, unfurlable.com, and the-best-casino-bonus.com.
pushwinning[.]com first checks visitors' IP addresses to learn their geolocations. This information is key in determining the site's further behavior. I.e., whether users are redirected elsewhere and/or are presented with dubious content depends on their geolocations.
Additionally, pushwinning[.]com attempts to trick users into allowing browser notifications by claiming that they must "Press 'Allow' to continue watching" a UEFA Champions League video. If the browser notifications are enabled, the website starts running intrusive advertisement campaigns.
When clicked, these ads redirect to rogue, sale-based/promotional, compromised, deceptive/scam and malicious websites. Furthermore, some intrusive ads can be triggered (when clicked) to execute scripts designed to stealthily download/install rogue software.
Prime examples of content infiltrated into systems in this manner are PUAs. These unwanted apps can have capabilities other than force-opening dubious web pages. They can also deliver intrusive advertisements (e.g. pop-ups, banners, coupons, etc.) by enabling placement on any visited website.
Furthermore, most PUAs have data tracking capabilities. They can monitor browsing activity (visited URLs, viewed pages, searched queries, etc.) and collect sensitive information extracted from it (IP addresses, geolocations and other details). The collected data usually contains personally identifiable information.
PUA developers monetize this information by sharing it with and/or selling it to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals). To summarize, the presence of this unwanted software on devices can lead to system infections, financial loss, serious privacy issues and even identity theft.
To summarize, you are strongly advised to eliminate all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins without delay.

PUAs may seem legitimate and harmless, and users are often enticed into download/installation with offers of "useful" functionality. Despite how good the features promised may sound, they are rarely operational. The sole purpose of this unwanted software is to generate revenue for the developers.
It is useless for regular users and can cause serious problems. Rather than delivering any real value, PUAs force-open harmful web pages, run intrusive ad campaigns and collect private information.
How did adware install on my computer?
PUAs are often downloaded/installed with other products. "Bundling" is the term used to describe this deceptive marketing technique of packing normal software with unwanted or malicious additions.
By rushing through download/installation processes (e.g. by ignoring terms, skipping steps and sections, using "Quick/Express" options, etc.), many users risk inadvertently allowing bundled content into the system. Some PUAs have "official" download pages.
Intrusive advertisements proliferate these apps as well. Once clicked, they can execute scripts to download/install PUAs without users' consent.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
It is important to research all software before download/installation and/or purchase. Use only official and verified download channels, since untrusted sources such as unofficial and free file-hosting sites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks and other third party downloaders commonly offer deceptive and bundled content.
When downloading/installing, you are advised to read the terms, explore all available options, use the "Custom" or "Advanced" settings and opt-out of supplementary apps, tools, features and other additions. Intrusive ads may seem legitimate, however, they can redirect to dubious web pages (e.g. gambling, pornography, adult-dating, and so on).
If you encounter these ads or redirects, check all devices and immediately remove all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?
Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.
Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
