How to uninstall ArchimedesLookup adware from operating systems
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is ArchimedesLookup?
ArchimedesLookup is a rogue application categorized as adware and possessing browser hijacker traits. It operates by running intrusive advertisement campaigns, making modifications to browser settings and promoting fake search engines.
Most adware and browser hijackers gather browsing-related information, and it is likely that ArchimedesLookup also has these data tracking capabilities. Due to the dubious methods used to distribute this app, it is classified as a Potentially Unwanted Application (PUA).
One of the distribution techniques used for ArchimedesLookup is via fake Adobe Flash Player updates. Bogus software updaters/installers proliferate PUAs and also malware (e.g. ransomware, Trojans, etc.).
Adware delivers pop-ups, banners, coupons, surveys and other intrusive advertisements, typically by enabling placement on any visited website. These ads reduce browsing speed and overlay web page content. When clicked, they redirect to various untrusted/malicious websites and some can even stealthily download/install rogue software (e.g. PUAs).
Browser hijackers assign the addresses of fake search engines as the homepage, default search engine and new tab/window URLs. Therefore, each search query typed into the URL bar and new browser tab/window opened redirects to the promoted address.
Rogue search engines are rarely capable of providing search results, and so they redirect to Google, Yahoo, Bing and other genuine sites. Browser hijackers can reassign any changes users attempt to make to their browsers and/or deny access to the browser settings outright.
Therefore, recovering the hijacked browser is impossible without removing the software affecting it. Most PUAs (adware and browser hijackers included) can track data. They can monitor browsing activity (URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries typed, etc.) and gather personal information extracted from it (IP addresses, geolocations and other details).
This sensitive data is usually shared with and/or sold to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals). In summary, the presence of unwanted apps on devices can lead to system infections, financial loss, serious privacy issues and even identity theft. To protect device and user safety, remove all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins without delay.

EngageSearch, BinarySignSearch, and DynamicAnalog are some examples of other adware programs. This software may seem normal and offer a wide variety of "useful" functionality, however, the features promised are seldom operational - this is typical of PUAs.
The only purpose of these unwanted applications is to generate profit for the developers. Regular users receive no real value and can instead experience serious issues. PUAs deliver intrusive ad campaigns, cause redirects, modify browsers and collect vulnerable information.
How did ArchimedesLookup install on my computer?
PUAs are distributed through the download/installation set-ups of other products. This deceptive marketing technique of pre-packing regular software with unwanted or malicious additions is called "bundling".
Rushing download/installation processes (e.g. ignoring terms, skipping steps and sections, etc.) increases the risk of unintentionally allowing dubious and/or bundled content into the system. Certain PUAs have "official" download pages. Intrusive ads proliferate these applications as well.
Once clicked, they can execute scripts to download/install PUAs without users' permission.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
You are advised to research all software before download/installation. All downloads must be done from official and verified sources. Unofficial and free file-hosting websites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks and other third party downloaders commonly offer deceptive and/or bundled content.
These download channels are therefore untrusted. When downloading/installing, it is important to read the terms, explore all available options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings and opt-out of supplementary apps, tools, features, and so on.
Intrusive ads may seem legitimate and harmless, however, they can redirect to dubious web pages (e.g. gambling, pornography, adult-dating, etc.). If you experience advertisements/redirects of this kind, inspect the system and immediately remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins.
