How to stop redirects to and from jightlydra.club

Also Known As: jightlydra.club pop-up
Damage level: Medium

What is jightlydra[.]club?

jightlydra[.]club is a rogue website designed to redirect visitors to other untrusted/malicious pages and/or to present them with dubious content. At the time of research, this site promoted an installer containing malicious software. Websites such as cvazirouse.comonlybestpushnews.com, and zmusic-online.com are some examples similar to jightlydra[.]club.

Few users access these web pages intentionally - most are redirected to them by intrusive advertisements or Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs). These apps do not need express user permission to be installed onto users' systems. PUAs cause redirects, run intrusive ad campaigns and track private data.

jightlydra[.]club pop-up redirects

Rogue websites operate by first checking visitors' IP (Internet Protocol) addresses, to learn their geolocations. This information is key in determining the site's behavior. I.e., whether users are redirected elsewhere and/or are presented with dubious material depends on their geolocations.

Furthermore, jightlydra[.]club uses browser notifications. If these are enabled, the web page starts running intrusive ad campaigns. The delivered advertisements are more than just a nuisance, they are also a threat to device/user safety. When clicked, they can redirect to various sale-oriented/promotional, untrusted, deceptive/scam, compromised and malicious websites.

Additionally, some intrusive ads can be triggered (when clicked) to execute scripts designed to stealthily download/install rogue software (e.g. PUAs). As well as force-opening dubious/malicious pages, these unwanted applications can run intrusive advertisement campaigns and/or have other dangerous capabilities.

Furthermore, most PUAs monitor browsing activity (URLs visited, web pages viewed, search queries typed, etc.) and gather sensitive information derived from it (IP addresses, geolocations and other details).

The collected data is likely to contain personally identifiable information, which PUA developers often monetize by sharing with and/or selling to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals). To summarize, the presence of such apps on devices can lead to system infections, financial loss, serious privacy issues and even identity theft.

To ensure device integrity and user privacy, remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins immediately upon detection.

PUAs may seem legitimate and harmless, and typically offer various "useful" functionality. Despite how good these features may sound, they are seldom operational. The only purpose of these unwanted apps is to generate revenue for the developers. Rather than delivering any real value, PUAs cause redirects, run intrusive advertisement campaigns and collect vulnerable data.

How did adware install on my computer?

PUAs are proliferated using various methods. They are often downloaded/installed with other programs. This deceptive marketing technique of pre-packing regular software with unwanted or malicious additions is called "bundling".

By rushing through download/installation processes (e.g. ignoring terms, using presets, skipping steps and sections, etc.), many users risk unintentionally allowing dubious and/or bundled content into their devices. Certain PUAs have "official" promotional pages, from which they can be downloaded.

Once clicked, intrusive ads can execute scripts to download/install PUAs without users' consent.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications

You are strongly advised to research all software prior to download/installation and/or purchase. All downloads must be done from official and verified sources, since untrusted channels such unofficial and free file-hosting websites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks (BitTorrent, eMule, Gnutella, etc.) and other third party downloaders commonly offer deceptive and/or bundled content.

When downloading/installing, read the terms, study all available options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings and opt-out of supplementary apps, tools, features and other additions. It is also important to exercise caution when browsing.

Intrusive advertisements may seem normal and innocuous, however, they can redirect to dubious sites (e.g. gambling, pornography, adult-dating, and so on). If you encounter ads/redirects of this type, check the system and remove all suspect applications and browser extensions without delay.

If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
