How to stop redirects to and from zpredir1.com
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is zpredir1[.]com?
zpredir1[.]com is a rogue website sharing many similarities with biz-4u.com, thenickelpress.com, behavingsoping.club and countless others. These sites operate by presenting visitors with dubious content and/or redirecting them to other untrusted or even malicious web pages.
Few visitors access zpredir1[.]com or similar websites intentionally - most are redirected to them by intrusive ads or Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) already installed onto the system. PUAs cause redirects, run intrusive ad campaigns and track browsing-related information.
When accessed, zpredir1[.]com first checks visitors' IP addresses to learn their geolocations, which is key in determining the web page's further course of action. Depending on their geolocations, users are redirected elsewhere and/or presented with dubious material.
Additionally, most rogue sites use browser notifications. They often employ deceptive tactics such as 'clickbait' (e.g. "Click here to verity that you are not a robot", "Press here to view video", "Click 'Allow' to verify that you are 18 and older", etc.) to trick visitors into enabling the notifications.
If enabled, the websites begin running intrusive advertisement campaigns. When clicked, these ads redirect to untrusted/rogue, sale-oriented, compromised, deceptive/scam and malicious pages. Some intrusive ads can even be triggered (when clicked) to execute scripts designed to download/install rogue software (e.g. PUAs) without users' permission.
These unwanted applications can have additional capabilities, as well as force-opening rogue web pages. They can deliver intrusive ad campaigns, enabling the placement of pop-ups, banners, coupons, surveys and other advertisements on any site. Furthermore, most PUAs can track data.
They can record browsing activity (URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries typed, etc.) and gather personal information (IP addresses, geolocations and other details). This sensitive data is typically shared with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) seeking to misuse it for financial gain.
Therefore, the presence of unwanted apps can lead to system infections, financial loss, serious privacy issues and even identity theft. To ensure device integrity and user safety, you are strongly advised eliminate all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins without delay.

PUAs may seem legitimate and normal, and users are often tempted into download/installation with offers of "useful" features.
Despite how good these functions may sound, they are typically nonoperational. The only purpose of these unwanted applications is to generate profit for the developers. Rather than delivering any real value, PUAs cause redirects to dubious/malicious websites, run intrusive advertisement campaigns and track personal data.
How did adware install on my computer?
PUAs are often distributed via the download/installation set-ups of other software. This deceptive marketing tactic of pre-packing regular products with unwanted or malicious additions is called "bundling".
By rushing through download/installation processes (e.g. ignoring terms, skipping steps and sections, etc.), many users risk unintentionally allowing bundled content onto the system. Some PUAs also have "official" download pages. When clicked, intrusive advertisements can execute scripts to stealthily download/install PUAs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
All software should be researched to verify its legitimacy prior to download/installation. You are advised to download/install from official and trustworthy sources. Unofficial and free file-hosting sites, P2P sharing networks (BitTorrent, eMule, Gnutella, etc.) and other third party downloaders are untrusted and can offer deceptive or bundled content.
Treat download and installation processes with caution. Read the terms, study all possible options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings and decline download/installation of supplementary apps, tools, features and other additions. Intrusive ads may seem normal and harmless, however, they can redirect to dubious web pages (e.g. gambling, pornography, adult-dating, etc.).
If you encounter these ads/redirects, inspect the system and immediately eliminate all suspicious applications and browser extensions plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?
Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.
Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
