How to stop redirects to and from myappsclub.net
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is myappsclub[.]net?
myappsclub.net is a fake search engine. These bogus search tools typically cannot generate unique results and record information relating to browsing activity. Fake search engines are usually promoted by Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) called browser hijackers. They do so by making modifications to browser settings and often monitor users' browsing habits.
Browser hijackers target Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and other popular browsers. Following successful infiltration, they reassign the homepage, default search engine and new tab/window URLs.
For example, with a browser hijacker promoting myappsclub[.]net installed, each search query typed into the URL bar and new browser tab/window opened redirects to the address of this bogus search engine. As mentioned, most fake search engines cannot provide unique results, and so they redirect to (or cause redirection chains ending with) legitimate sites.
In the case of myappsclub[.]net, it also redirects to Yahoo (search.yahoo.com), a genuine search engine. Therefore, users experience unwanted redirects and are forced to use this dubious web searcher. Furthermore, any changes users attempt to make to their browsers are undone by the hijacker, if access to the settings is permitted at all.
Therefore, the browser hijacker must be removed to recover the affected browser. Furthermore, most browser hijackers (and the search engines they promote) have data tracking capabilities. They monitor browsing activity (URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, etc.) and gather personal information extracted from it (IP addresses, geolocations and other details).
The collected data often contains personally identifiable information. Developers of this rogue software typically monetize this data by sharing it with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals), seeking to misuse it for profit.
To summarize, the presence of data-tracking content on devices can lead to serious privacy issues, financial loss and even identity theft. To ensure browser/system and user safety, remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins without delay.

apxs.xyz, searchsafelypro.com, lpxsx.xyz, and wwmiox.xyz are some examples of bogus search engines. While they may seem identical to genuine sites, they cannot provide unique results, or at least any results tend to be inaccurate or promote untrusted/malicious websites.
Browser hijackers, which cause redirects to the addresses of these fake web search engines, can also seem legitimate. For example, Free Forms Online Tab, ConvertPDFToWord, and TV Now Pro to name just some examples.
Users are tempted into download/installation with offers of various "useful" functions, however, the features promised are rarely operational - and this is typical of all of these unwanted applications. The only purpose of PUAs is to generate revenue.
How did myappsclub[.]net install on my computer?
PUAs can be unintentionally downloaded/installed together with other products. This deceptive marketing technique of pre-packing regular software with unwanted or malicious additions is called "bundling". When downloading/installing, ignoring terms, using pre-set options, skipping steps and sections increases the risk of inadvertently allowing bundled content onto system.
Some PUAs have "official" promotional sites from which they can be downloaded. Once clicked, intrusive advertisements can execute scripts to stealthily download/install PUAs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
You are strongly advised to research all software before download/installation. All downloads should be performed only from official and verified sources. Unofficial and free file-hosting websites, P2P sharing networks (BitTorrent, eMule, Gnutella, etc.) and other third party downloaders can offer deceptive and/or bundled content, and thus are untrusted.
When downloading/installing, it is important to read the terms, study all possible options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings and opt-out of supplementary apps, tools, functions and so on. You are advised to exercise caution when browsing.
Intrusive ads may seem legitimate and harmless, however, they can redirect to dubious web pages (e.g. pornography, adult-dating, gambling, etc.). If you encounter these ads/redirects, check the system and immediately eliminate all dubious applications and/or browser extensions/plug-ins.
If your computer is already infected with browser hijackers, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate it.
