How to remove apps that promote biosc.xyz
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is biosc.xyz?
biosc.xyz is the address of a fake search engine, which is promoted through at least two browser hijackers called DISI APP and SApp+, Vitos APP. Generally, browser hijackers promote fake search engines by modifying browser settings. Additionally, apps of this type can often record data.
Few users download or install browser hijackers intentionally - this is caused inadvertently through rogue apps. Therefore, browser hijackers are categorized as potentially unwanted applications (PUAs).
Most browser hijackers promote fake search engines by changing browser settings such as the address of the default search engine, new tab and homepage. DISI APP and SApp+ assign them to biosc.xyz. Therefore, users who have these apps installed on browsers visit biosc.xyz when they open a browser, enter search queries into the URL bar or open new tabs.
Note that, on Chrome, biosc.xyz is opened via bytsm.xyz and, on Firefox, it is opened via searchmes.xyz, or a number of other dubious addresses. Commonly, fake search engines generate misleading results and this is likely to be the case with biosc.xyz as well.
Typically, the addresses assigned by browser hijackers cannot be removed from the settings as long as the rogue apps are installed on browsers and/or operating systems. In this case, biosc.xyz can be avoided by uninstalling the DISI APP and SApp+ applications.
This is not the only reason to uninstall browser hijackers. These apps can gather data such as addresses of visited pages, IP addresses, geolocations, entered search queries, and other browsing data. In some cases, they might also record sensitive, personal information.
The data is sold to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who misuse it to generate revenue in other ways. In summary, installed browser hijackers can cause problems relating to online privacy, web browsing safety, identity theft and other issues. Therefore, remove DISI APP, SApp+ and other installed browser hijacker from the browser and operating system immediately.

Damage | Internet browser tracking (potential privacy issues), display of unwanted ads, redirects to dubious websites. |
Malware Removal (Windows) | To eliminate possible malware infections, scan your computer with legitimate antivirus software. Our security researchers recommend using Combo Cleaner. |
There are many other apps similar to DISI APP and SApp+ including, for example, Protect My Search App, Unit Conversion Tab and Tab Recovery. They might be advertised as useful and legitimate, and supposedly improve the browsing experience, have various features, etc.
In fact, most deliver no real value and simply cause problems. Therefore, never trust or use browser hijackers or other PUAs.
How did biosc.xyz install on my computer?
Most PUAs are installed through clicked deceptive advertisements or the set-ups of other programs (when software developers distribute them using the "bundling" method). Commonly, developers attempt to trick users into downloading and installing unwanted apps together with their required programs.
They do this by including PUAs into the download/installation set-ups of other programs as 'additional offers' and hope that people will not decline them. In most cases, these offers can be found in "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings of the set-ups.
Users who download and install programs without checking and changing these settings often allow included PUAs to infiltrate.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Channels and tools such as third party downloaders, installers, Peer-to-Peer networks (e.g, torrent clients, eMule), unofficial websites are often used to distribute PUAs or malware. Therefore, software and files should be downloaded only from official pages and through direct links.
Downloads and installations should not be finished without checking "Advanced", "Custom" and other settings. Decline any offers to download or install additional, unwanted applications. Do not click advertisements that are displayed on dubious websites, since they can open untrusted websites or cause unwanted downloads and installations.
Remove any unwanted, suspicious extensions, add-ons, and plug-ins already installed on the browser immediately. Also remove software of this kind that is installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with browser hijackers, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate it.
