How to remove TV Streaming Plus from browsers and computers
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is TV Streaming Plus?
The TV Streaming Plus app supposedly provides quick access to various online TV and Movie streaming websites, however, it is categorized as a potentially unwanted application (PUA), a browser hijacker. TV Streaming Plus promotes tvstreamingplus.com (the address of a fake search engine) by changing browser settings and gathering various data.
People often download and install software of this type inadvertently. Furthermore, TV Streaming Plus is not the only application installed during the process - another PUA called Search Defender Prime is also installed.
After installation, TV Streaming Plus sets tvstreamingplus.com as the address of the homepage, new tab and default search engine. Therefore, this browser hijacker forces users to visit this address when they open a browser (new window), new tab and enter search queries into the URL bar.
Furthermore, it prevents users from removing tvstreamingplus.com from the aforementioned settings. Typically, the settings can only be changed when the browser hijacker (in this case, TV Streaming Plus) is no longer installed.
Note that tvstreamingplus.com does not generate unique search results, and simply provides those generated by Yahoo (tvstreamingplus.com redirects users to search.yahoo.com and is thus classified as a fake search engine). As mentioned, apps such as TV Streaming Plus gather information.
Typically, they target data such as IP addresses, entered search queries, URLs of visited websites, and geolocations, however, they sometimes also gather personal, sensitive details. The developers sell the data to third parties who misuse it to generate revenue. Some of these third parties might include cyber criminals.
In summary, it is not safe to have browser hijackers installed. Remove TV Streaming Plus, Search Defender Prime and any other installed PUAs immediately.

Some examples of other browser hijackers are Forms Wizard, Goweb App and mSearches Startpage. They are often advertised as delivering various features, however, few operate as promised and are designed only to promote fake search engines and gather browsing data.
Furthermore, people who have them installed on their systems are exposed to risk of becoming victims of identity theft, problems with browsing safety, privacy, and other issues.
How did TV Streaming Plus install on my computer?
Generally, people download and install adware or other PUAs inadvertently. This usually happens when software developers trick them using a deceptive marketing method called "bundling". I.e., they include PUAs into the download/installation set-ups of other programs and related hide information in "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings.
When people download and/or install software without changing these settings, PUAs receive permission to be downloaded and installed. In other cases, PUAs infiltrate when people click deceptive advertisements that execute scripts that download and install this unwanted software.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Do not download or install software from untrusted websites, through third party downloaders, installers, Peer-to-Peer networks (torrent clients, eMule), and so on. Use only official websites and direct download links. Decline offers to download or install additionally-included, unwanted apps in the setup before completing download/installation of software.
Typically, these offers can be found in settings such as "Advanced, "Custom". Do not trust or click intrusive ads, especially if they appear on dubious web pages. Typically, they lead to potentially malicious sites or cause download/installation of unwanted software.
If there are any unknown, unwanted extensions, add-ons and plug-ins installed on the browser, remove them immediately. The same applies to software of this kind that is installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with TV Streaming Plus, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
