How to remove redirects to and from trynotify.com
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is trynotify[.]com?
trynotify[.]com is a rogue website designed to present visitors with highly dubious content. It also generates redirects to other untrustworthy and possibly malicious sites. It shares many common features with lulachu.com, redlabellondon.com, vidconverter.co, and countless others.
Most users arrive at trynotify[.]com unintentionally, since they are redirected by intrusive ads or Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) already present on the device. These apps can infiltrate systems without explicit user permission. Following successful installation, they cause redirects, run intrusive advertisement campaigns, and track browsing-related information.
The user's geolocation is key in determining the behavior of trynotify[.]com. It first checks visitors' IP addresses to learn their geolocations. Depending on this information, users are then redirected elsewhere or presented with dubious material.
This rogue website employs browsers notifications, the consent option to which it hides within 'clickbait' ("If you are 18+ click Allow Notifications / To access, click Allow Notifications!").
By implying that visitors must consent to notifications to gain access to the site (and presumably, the adult content therein), trynotify[.]com attempts to tricks users into allowing it to run intrusive ad campaigns. The delivered ads (e.g. pop-ups, banners, surveys, coupons, etc.) are more than just a minor annoyance, they are also a threat to device health.
When clicked, intrusive ads can redirect to sale-oriented, untrustworthy, compromised, deceptive/scam and malicious pages. Some can execute scripts to download/install PUAs without users' permission. Unwanted applications generate redirects to similarly hazardous sites and can deliver intrusive ads.
This is achieved by implementing certain tools, which enable third party graphical content to be displayed on any site. In this way, PUAs deliver ads that diminish the browsing experience. Note that data tracking is by far the most dangerous function that most PUAs have.
They employ these capabilities to monitor users' browsing habits (URLs visited, search queries typed, etc.) and gather their personal information (IP addresses, geolocations and other details). This private data can then be shared with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) seeking to misuse it for profit.
To summarize, PUAs can cause browser and system infiltration/infections and lead to financial loss, serious privacy issues and even identity theft. To ensue device and user safety - all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins must be removed without delay.

Most PUAs share similarities. While they may seem legitimate and promise various features, they rarely operate as advertised. Typically, all promoted features are nonoperational. PUAs have just one purpose: to generate revenue for the developers, whilst regular users receive no genuine value. PUAs simply cause redirects, run intrusive ad campaigns, and collect sensitive data.
How did adware install on my computer?
PUAs proliferate via the download/install set-ups of other programs. This deceptive marketing tactic of packing normal software with unwanted content is called "bundling". Rushing download/install processes (e.g. skipping steps, using presets, etc.) increases the risk of inadvertently allowing bundled applications onto devices.
Some PUAs have "official" download web pages. By clicking intrusive ads, users can trigger them to execute/scripts designed to stealthily download/install PUAs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Research all content, prior to downloading/installing. Use only official and verified download channels. Peer-to-Peer sharing networks (BitTorrent, eMule, Gnutella, etc.), free file-hosting websites and other third party downloaders are untrusted and should be avoided.
When downloading/installing, read the terms, study all possible options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings, and opt-out of additional apps, tools, functions and so on. Intrusive ads usually seem legitimate and innocuous, however, they redirect to dubious sites (e.g. gambling, pornography, adult-dating, etc.).
If you encounter these advertisements/redirects, check the system and immediately remove all suspicious applications and/or browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?
Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.
Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
