How to uninstall OneSafe PC Cleaner

Also Known As: OneSafe PC Cleaner potentially unwanted application
Damage level: Medium

What is OneSafe PC Cleaner?

OneSafe PC Cleaner is software classed as a Potentially Unwanted Application (PUA). It is endorsed as system cleaning tool capable of scanning and removing various threats and issues. One of this application's distribution methods is via deceptive/scam websites, hence why it is classified as a PUA.

Note that these unwanted apps are often inadvertently downloaded/installed together with other, regular programs (often when downloaded from untrustworthy sources).

OneSafe PC Cleaner unwanted application

PUAs are highly dubious and potentially harmful applications. Any content categorized as such should not be installed. Typically (despite being advertised as free), PUAs such as OneSafe PC Cleaner require activation to become operational (i.e., require to be purchased to work).

In fact, even after activation, they tend to remain nonoperational. It is not uncommon for the download/install set-ups used to proliferate these apps to contain more than one PUA (e.g. adware or browser hijackers). While the sole purpose of unwanted applications is to generate revenue for the developers, they can have different methods of accomplishing this.

Some types force-open sale-based, untrustworthy, compromised, deceptive/scam and malicious websites. Others run intrusive advertisement campaigns by implementing varied tools to enable third party graphical content to be displayed on any site. Therefore, the delivered ads significantly diminish the browsing experience (limit browsing speed and site visibility).

Intrusive advertisements also carry certain risks. When clicked, they can redirect to likewise dangerous web pages, and some ads can even execute scripts designed to stealthily download/install PUAs, however, another type of unwanted app (browser hijacker) can make unauthorized changes to browsers and limit/deny access to their settings.

By far the most dangerous capability that most PUAs possess is data tracking. They monitor users' browsing activity (URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries typed, etc.) and collect personal information (IP addresses, geolocations and other details).

This vulnerable data can then be shared with third parties (often, cyber criminals) intent on misusing it for financial gain. To summarize, the presence of PUAs on devices can cause various browser/system infiltration and infections, and lead to financial loss, serious privacy issues and even identity theft.

To ensure device and user safety, remove all suspicious applications and/or browser extensions/plug-ins without delay.

Full System CareBitSecure AV, and Complete System Care are examples of software similar to OneSafe PC Cleaner. PUAs can offer a wide array of "useful" and "beneficial" functions/features such as system cleaning/optimization, web search enhancement, quick access to specific content to name a few.

Regardless of how good these offers may sound, the advertised features rarely work as promised. Rather than delivering any real value, PUAs generate redirects to untrustworthy/malicious pages, run intrusive ad campaigns, hijack browsers, and track private data.

How did potentially unwanted applications install on my computer?

Some PUAs have "official" promotional web pages, which are frequently accessed through scam sites. This proliferation method is used by OneSafe PC Cleaner, however, PUAs are also spread via download/install set-ups of other software. This deceptive marketing method of pre-packing normal programs with unwanted or malicious content is called "bundling".

Rushing download/installation processes (e.g. ignoring terms, skipping steps, using presets, etc.) increases the risk of potential system infiltration and infections. When clicked, intrusive advertisements can execute scripts to download/install PUAs without users' consent.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications

Research content, prior to downloading/installing. Use only official and verified download channels. Untrustworthy download sources such as P2P sharing networks (BitTorrent, eMule, Gnutella, etc.), unofficial and free file-hosting websites, third party downloaders and similar are more likely to offer deceptive and/or bundled software.

When downloading/installing, read the terms, explore all available options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings and opt-out of supplementary apps, tools, functions and so on. Intrusive ads commonly seem legitimate and innocuous, however, they can redirect to dubious web pages (e.g. pornography, adult-dating, gambling and others).

If you experience these ads/redirects, inspect the device and immediately remove all suspect applications and/or browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with PUAs, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
