Eliminate Imagineprime adware from the system
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is Imagineprime?
Imagineprime is a deceptive application identical to GenerelOpen, WindowArea, NameSync, and many others.
By offering an enhanced web search experience, Imagineprime attempts to give the impression of legitimacy, however, it is categorized as adware and a potentially unwanted application (PUA), since it usually infiltrates computers without consent, delivers intrusive advertisements, and gathers information relating to browsing habits.
After successful infiltration, Imagineprime delivers coupons, banners, pop-ups, and other similar ads. This is a common behavior to adware-type apps. To achieve this, Imagineprime employs various tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site.
Therefore, ads often conceal underlying website content, thereby diminishing the browsing experience. Furthermore, these ads often redirect users to dubious websites and some even execute scripts that download/install unwanted applications. Thus, clicking them is risky and can result in system infections.
Another important issue is data tracking. Potentially unwanted applications often record IP addresses, website URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, and other similar data relating to browsing activity. This information is shared with third parties who misuse it to generate revenue.
Therefore, the presence of data-tracking applications can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. We strongly recommend that you eliminate Imagineprime adware immediately.

There are hundreds of adware-type applications, all of which share many similarities. Most offer "useful features", however, these claims are false - PUAs simply attempt to trick users to install. Rather than giving any real value, apps such as Imagineprime deliver advertisements and gather various information.
How did Imagineprime install on my computer?
As mentioned above, Imagineprime usually infiltrates systems without users’ permission, since developers proliferate it via the aforementioned intrusive advertisements and a deceptive marketing method called "bundling" (stealth installation of potentially unwanted applications together with regular software).
Developers hide "bundled" apps behind "Custom/Advanced" settings or other sections of the download/installation processes. Furthermore, many users often rush download/installation processes and skip steps. Additionally, they click advertisements without understanding the possible consequences.
This behavior often leads to inadvertent installation of third party applications - in this way, users expose their systems to risk of various infections and compromise their privacy.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
To prevent this situation, be very cautious when browsing the Internet and downloading/installing software. Be aware that intrusive advertisements usually seem legitimate, however, most redirect to dubious websites (gambling, pornography, adult dating, and similar).
If you experience these ads/redirects, eliminate all suspicious applications and browser plug-ins. Additionally, select "Custom/Advanced" settings and analyze each window of the download/installation dialogs. Opt-out of all additionally-included programs and decline offers to download/install them.
You are advised to download your programs from official sources only, preferably using direct download links. Third party downloaders/installers often include rogue apps and, thus, using these tools is risky.
The key to computer safety is caution. If your computer is already infected with Imagineprime, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
