Uninstall the MyPDFConverter browser hijacker from your system

What is MyPDFConverter?
MyPDFConverter is yet another browser-hijacking application that supposedly allows users to convert file formats to and from PDF. Its appearance suggests that MyPDFConverter is legitimate and useful, however, this application promotes two websites: mypdfconverter.net and gosearchsafely.com.
Additionally, mypdfconverter.net gathers various user-information and is thus categorized as a potentially unwanted application (PUA) and a browser hijacker.
As mentioned above, MyPDFConverter promotes the mypdfconverter.net website. To achieve this, MyPDFConverter hijacks browsers and assigns the new tab URL and homepage options to mypdfconverter.net. Another URL - gosearchsafely.com - is assigned as the default search engine.
These changes may seem insignificant, however, this application injects extensions into the web browser. Therefore, users are unable to return browsers to their previous states, since MyPDFConverter reassigns options (and prevents access) when attempts are made to change them.
Therefore, reverting the changes becomes impossible and users are forced to visit mypdfconverter.net when they open a new browser tab or window. Users are also forced to visit gosearchsafely.com when they enter a search query into the URL bar.
Note that gosearchsafely.com claims to be a high-end search engine, however, it simply redirects to search.yahoo.com, and thus users merely end up searching via the Yahoo search engine (which is legitimate). Furthermore, gosearchsafely.com generates no unique search results.
Although redirects of this type are harmless, they significantly diminish the browsing experience. Additionally, MyPDFConverter and its promoted sites continually record data relating to browsing activity. This information usually includes personal details that are later sold to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who misuse private data to generate even more revenue.
Thus, information tracking can lead to various privacy issues, including identity theft. We strongly recommend that you eliminate the MyPDFConverter browser hijacker and never visit mypdfconverter.net or gosearchsafely.com

MyPDFConverter is virtually identical to dozens of other browser-hijacking applications such as World Time News, Directions And Maps Plus, and FileConverterPro. These programs offer various "useful features", however, few PUAs provide the functions promised.
These programs usually have just one purpose: to generate revenue for the developers. Rather than giving any real value for regular users, browser hijackers such as MyPDFConverter cause redirects and gather data, thereby significantly diminishing the browsing experience and posing a threat to your privacy.
How did MyPDFConverter install on my computer?
This hijacker has an official download/promotion website, however, it is likely to infiltrate computers without users' consent. Research shows that such applications are often proliferated using intrusive advertising and "bundling" methods.
Intrusive ads are often delivered by adware-type applications present on the system and redirect to dubious sites or run scripts designed to download/install unwanted applications. "Bundling", on the other hand, is stealth installation of third party applications with regular software.
Developers are not honest enough to adequately disclose installation of third party apps - they are concealed behind "Custom/Advanced" settings or other sections of these procedures.
Furthermore, users' lack of knowledge of these threats and careless behavior often leads them to click various advertisements, rush download/installation processes, and skip steps - behavior that often results in inadvertent installation of third party programs. In this way, they expose their systems to risk of various infections and compromise their privacy.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
To prevent this situation, be very cautious when browsing the internet and downloading/installing software. Intrusive ads typically seem legitimate, however, developers invest many resources into their design. The ads often redirect to dubious websites (gambling, pornography, adult dating, and similar).
If you experience these ads/redirects, remove all suspicious applications and browser plug-ins. Additionally, select "Custom/Advanced" settings and closely analyze each window of the download/installation dialogs. Opt-out of additionally-included programs and decline offers to download/install them.
Download apps from official sources only, preferably using direct download links, since third party downloaders/installers often include rogue applications. The key to computer safety is caution. If your computer is already infected with MyPDFConverter, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
