Uninstall TechNetSearch adware
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is TechNetSearch?
TechNetSearch supposedly improves the browsing experience, however, this app causes unwanted redirects - it forces users to visit suspicious addresses (URLs) and then simply provides search results generated by Google. Apps of this type often promote other (legitimate) search engines such as Yahoo or Bing by causing redirects to them.
Since TechNetSearch is an adware-type app, it is likely to serve users with unwanted ads and record information relating to browsing activity.
When TechNetSearch users enter a search query into their browsers, this app opens a dubious address first and only then provides search results. I.e., this app causes unwanted redirects. Furthermore, apps such as TechNetSearch also cause redirects to official search engines such as search.yahoo.com or bing.com.
TechNetSearch is also categorized as adware - these apps have one main purpose: to display ads that include coupons, banners, surveys, pop-ups, etc. Clicking them can lead to other dubious websites. In some cases, they execute scripts that cause unwanted downloads and installations.
In some cases, adware-type apps collect data such as geolocations, URLs of visited pages, entered search queries, IP addresses, and so on.
Developers share the information with third parties who misuse it to generate revenue. Some of these third parties might include cyber criminals. Therefore, we recommend that you uninstall TechNetSearch and other apps of this type from your browser and computer immediately.

TechNetSearch is one of many apps by the developers of SimpleProExtension, Top Results, and MatchKnowledge. All cause unwanted redirects and are classified as adware. These apps can lead to unwanted installations, problems with browsing safety and privacy, etc. To avoid these issues, we recommend that you uninstall TechNetSearch immediately.
How did TechNetSearch install on my computer?
TechNetSearch might be advertised on a supposedly 'official website', however, people often download and install these applications inadvertently. Developers distribute potentially unwanted apps using deception - by bundling them into various download/installation set-ups of other software.
They hide them in "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar parts of the set-ups and fail to disclose this information. The easiest way to be tricked into downloading/installing PUAs is to leave set-up options unchanged, however, clicking intrusive ads can also cause unwanted downloads and installations.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Download all software using official and trustworthy websites, and avoid using third party downloaders, torrent clients, eMule or other Peer-to-Peer networks and other dubious channels. Check "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings that are available in the download or installation set-ups.
Dismiss offers to download or install unwanted software/applications and only them finish the setup. Avoid clicking advertisements, especially if they are displayed on untrustworthy, unofficial web pages. These can cause redirects to untrustworthy/potentially malicious websites or unwanted downloads/installations.
If you experience unwanted redirects or ads, check the browser for installed unwanted applications (extensions, plug-ins, and add-ons) and remove them. The same applies to programs installed on the computer. If your computer is already infected with TechNetSearch, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
