Project Free Tv Virus

What is Project Free Tv?
Project Free Tv belongs to a group of websites that might cause unwanted downloads and installations, thereby leading to possible malware infections. As its name suggests, this web page allows users to watch various TV shows and movies free of charge. It contains a compilation of titles from A to Z and also allows users to search for movies or shows by genre.
This is a legitimate website, however, developers monetize it using dubious ad networks. In summary, Project Free Tv contains dubious ads and leads to deceptive, rogue websites. By using this web page, people risk being redirected to malicious pages or tricked into downloading and installing unwanted (potentially malicious) apps.
If content is clicked, this site then often causes redirects to other dubious websites. One example is a deceptive website that states that the visitor's computer is infected with viruses and that they need to be eliminated using a specific application, which is actually a potentially unwanted app (PUA).
I.e., one of the pages promoted through Project Free Tv is used to trick people into downloading and installing an unwanted application. This, however, is not the only untrustworthy website that is opened when Project Free Tv is used.
It also causes redirects to dubious pages used to trick people into downloading and installing browser hijackers, adware-type apps, and other PUAs. These modify browser settings, gather browsing-related information, and feed users with intrusive ads. Clicking ads displayed on websites opened by Project Free Tv might lead to computer infections.
These web pages might also be used to distribute malware. Furthermore, this site leads to websites that ask visitors to show notifications. If this permission is granted, web pages start to deliver pop-up ads, unwanted notifications, and so on.
When clicked, these open other dubious websites or cause unwanted downloads/installations. Therefore, do no open websites that employ dubious ad networks.

There are a number of legitimate websites that use dubious ad networks. Unfortunately, this increases the risk of having unwanted apps (or even malware) installed on browsers or computers when visiting these legitimate sites. Examples of other sites that use these networks are sendspace.com, Zippyshare, and Kissmanga.
To avoid computer infections/downloads, installation of other unwanted apps, do not to open these rogue sites.
How did adware install on my computer?
Frequently, unwanted downloads/installations occur when people click untrustworthy, deceptive advertisements or when software developers use the "bundling" method. They use this deceptive marketing method to trick people into downloading/installing potentially unwanted apps with other, regular software.
They do not disclose information about the inclusion of unwanted apps in installation/download set-ups: they hide it in "Custom"/"Advanced" settings and other similar parts of the set-ups. Furthermore, many users skip these settings and unintentionally allow PUAs to be downloaded and installed with other software.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
To prevent unwanted downloads and installations, do not download software from untrustworthy and unofficial pages, using software or file downloaders, Peer-to-Peer networks, and so on. The safest way to download is using direct download links and official websites. Furthermore, download/installation processes should be handled properly.
Check "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings/options and decline offers to download/install PUAs before completing any setup. Do not click intrusive ads, since they often redirect users to dubious, potentially malicious websites.
If these advertisements or unwanted redirects occur often, check installed applications (extensions, add-ons, plug-ins) on the browser and remove all unknown, unwanted entries immediately.
Also check the list of installed programs on the computer/operating system. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
