Sendspace.com Suspicious Website

What is sendspace[.]com?
sendspace[.]com is a file hosting website that allows users to send, receive, track and share large files. It is effectively an online file-sharing platform, which allows people to store and download files. This is a legitimate website, however, it uses deceptive ad networks.
Visitors are redirected to dubious websites that contain deceptive advertisements. The sendspace[.]com website itself also contains various ads.
sendspace[.]com asks visitors to show notifications. If allowed, it then displays various unwanted advertisements/notifications that, if clicked, lead to dubious websites. For example, web pages relating to gambling. Additionally, sendspace[.]com is filled with ads that could also lead to dubious websites.
These might be designed to promote potentially unwanted apps (PUAs) or even malicious sites. Some of these as run scripts that start downloading and installing unwanted apps when clicked. Websites that are used to display these ads often lead to web pages that promote unwanted apps by displaying fake virus errors and other alerts.
In summary, these websites trick people into believing that their computers are infected and that they need to download and install a PUA of some type. In other cases, 'technical support' scam websites are created to extort money from people by encouraging them to purchase unwanted apps or pay for unnecessary services.
Furthermore, websites opened by ads displayed on sendspace[.]com might promote other PUAs such as adware, browser hijackers, and so on. If installed, these PUAs gather various browsing-related information, change browser settings, and feed users with intrusive and deceptive ads. For these reasons, we recommend that you avoid using websites that use deceptive ad networks.

sendspace[.]com is not the only website that offers a legitimate service and yet uses these ad networks. Another example of a legitimate file hosting service provider is Zippyshare. To avoid download and installation of unwanted (or even malicious) apps or other problems, avoid websites that contain dubious ads or that use deceptive ad networks.
How did adware install on my computer?
There are many PUAs online, some with supposedly official websites, however, most people download and install them unintentionally through intrusive ads that they intentionally (or accidentally) click or when software developers use the "bundling" method.
They use this deceptive method to trick people into downloading and installing PUAs with regular software. Generally, they do not properly disclose information regarding the inclusion of apps into software set-ups and hide them in "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings.
In summary, unwanted downloads and installations usually occur when people click dubious, intrusive ads or download and install software without checking the available settings.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Download all applications/software from official and trustworthy websites and using direct download links. Avoid third party software downloading tools such as torrent clients, eMule and other Peer-to-Peer networks, installers, unofficial pages and other similar sources.
Install software properly, especially if it is free. Check "Custom", "Advanced", and other similar settings or options, and dismiss offers to download and install any unwanted programs. Only then complete the setup. Be careful with dubious (deceptive) advertisements.
Typically, they open web pages relating to gambling, pornography, adult dating, and other dubious sites. If you encounter intrusive ads or redirects to untrustworthy websites, check the list of installed applications (add-ons, plug-ins, extensions) on the browser and remove all unknown, unwanted entries immediately.
The same applies to unwanted programs installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
