Easy Access to Internet Services Browser Hijacker
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is Easy Access to Internet Services?
As its name suggests, the Easy Access to Internet Services application provides quick and easy access to popular websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Netflix, and many others. In fact, this app is categorized as a potentially unwanted application (PUA), a browser hijacker.
Most people install PUAs unintentionally. Easy Access to Internet Services promotes various dubious websites (mostly fake search engines) by changing browser settings and gathers data relating to users' browsing habits.
Generally, browser hijackers target Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Internet Explorer. When installed, Easy Access to Internet Services assigns the homepage, default search engine, and new browser tab URL to one of the following addresses: fidonav[.]com, totanav[.]com, bronav[.]com, totagame[.]com, or okaynav[.]com.
Most of these websites are fake search engines (Search+). Users are forced to visit one of these websites as long as Easy Access to Internet Services is installed. These changes cannot be undone unless this PUA is uninstalled.
When a browser hijacker installed, these apps (with their associated fake search engines) record information relating to users' browsing activity, such as entered search queries, URLs of visited websites, geolocations, IP addresses, etc. Some browser hijackers also target personal details.
Developers of PUAs share the data with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who misuse it to generate revenue. We strongly recommend that you uninstall all browser hijackers or other PUAs and avoid using dubious search engines.

There are many browser hijackers across the internet, however, most have one purpose: to generate revenue for developers by promoting dubious websites (fake search engines) and collecting information. Note that ConvertoPDF, Kittens New Tab, and bestMovies Now are just some examples of other apps of this type.
Typically, they are presented as legitimate, however, most provide no real value (promoted features, tools, and so on). In fact, having them installed on your system could lead to privacy/ browsing safety issues and other problems.
How did Easy Access to Internet Services install on my computer?
Some PUAs have supposedly 'official websites' from which they can be downloaded, however, most users install them through clicked intrusive advertisements or when they are bundled with other (usually free) software.
"Bundling" is a deceptive marketing method that is used by developers who attempt to trick people into downloading and installing unwanted apps with other software. They achieve this by hiding PUAs in "Custom", "Advanced" and other options/settings of software download/installation set-ups.
Developers avoid disclosing information about the inclusion of unwanted apps in set-ups. Furthermore, many users rush download and installation processes without checking settings, thereby causing installation or download of various unwanted applications.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
We advise you to download software using official/trustworthy sources and avoid using third party software downloaders, installers, Peer-to-Peer networks, and other similar sources. Do not download or install without checking all available "Custom"/"Advanced" (and other similar) settings.
It is important to deselect offers to download or install unwanted applications before finishing any download or installation process. Furthermore, do not click intrusive ads, especially if they are displayed on unofficial, dubious websites. They usually cause redirects to untrustworthy websites (such as gambling, pornography, adult dating, etc.).
If you experience these ads or redirects, check the list of installed programs on the operating system and extensions, add-ons, and plug-ins added on your browser.
Remove any unwanted and suspicious entries (apps/programs) immediately. If your computer is already infected with Easy Access to Internet Services, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
