Ind1cate.com POP-UP Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is ind1cate.com?
ind1cate.com is a rogue website similar to click-on-this.today, cpi-offers.com, bluegrated.com, and many others. This website delivers dubious content and causes redirects to other sites. Most visitors arrive at ind1cate.com inadvertently - they are redirected by potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) or intrusive advertisements displayed on other dubious sites.
Research shows that PUAs typically infiltrate systems without users’ permission. As well as causing redirects, these apps deliver intrusive advertisements and record user-system information relating to browsing activity.
After successful infiltration, PUAs start opening new browser tabs/windows and redirect users to ind1cate.com. Once opened, this site displays certain content or causes additional (typically 2-3) redirects to other dubious websites - this depends on the user's location. Therefore, users may encounter malicious content (displayed by ind1cate.com or other sites).
Redirects to and from ind1cate.com can thus lead to various system infections. The same applies to intrusive advertisements. Potentially unwanted apps deliver coupons, banners, pop-ups, and other similar ads that might also lead to infectious websites, or even execute scripts designed to download/install malware.
Therefore, clicking them might also result in various system infections. Intrusive ads are deployed using tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site. Therefore, they often conceal underlying content, thereby significantly diminishing the browsing experience. Potentially unwanted apps are also notorious for information tracking.
They gather IP addresses, website URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, geo-locations, and other similar data relating to browsing activity. The collected information might contain personal details that developers share with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals).
These people generate revenue by misusing private information. Therefore, data tracking can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. We strongly recommend that you uninstall all PUAs immediately.

The internet is full of potentially unwanted applications, all of which are virtually identical. By offering many "useful functions", these applications attempt to give the impression of legitimacy, however, few such programs provide the functionality promised. Most have just one purpose: to generate revenue for the developers.
Rather than giving any real value for regular users, unwanted apps cause redirects, deliver advertisements, and gather various information, thereby posing a direct threat to your privacy and computer safety.
How did adware install on my computer?
Some unwanted applications have official download websites, however, most are distributed using "bundling" and intrusive advertising methods. "Bundling" is essentially stealth installation of third party apps together with regular software.
Developers hide "bundled" programs behind "Custom/Advanced" settings (or other sections) of the download/installation processes - they do not adequately disclose installation of this software. Furthermore, users often rush download/installation processes and skip steps.
This behavior leads to inadvertent installation of rogue apps - users expose their systems to risk of various infections and compromise their privacy.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
The main reasons for computer infections are lack of knowledge and careless behavior. The key to safety is caution. Therefore, pay close attention when browsing the web. Intrusive advertisements may seem legitimate, however, most redirect to dubious websites, such as gambling, adult dating, pornography, etc.
If you experience these ads/redirects you should immediately remove all suspicious applications and browser plug-ins. Furthermore, carefully analyze each step of the download/installation processes using the "Custom" or "Advanced" settings. Opt-out of all additionally-included programs and decline offers to download/install them.
Your software should be downloaded from official sources only (using direct download links) and not third party downloaders/installers.
These tools should never be used, since developers often monetize them using the "bundling" method. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
