Trkur4.com POP-UP Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is trkur4.com?
Identical or very similar to rementoolsr.club, secassingly.club, livestream123.info and many others, trkur4.com is a rogue website that redirects visitors to other untrustworthy (potentially malicious) sites. Visitors generally arrive at trkur4.com inadvertently - potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) force users to visit it.
In most cases, PUAs infiltrate systems without users' knowledge and, in addition to the aforementioned redirects, deliver intrusive advertisements and gather information.
Once a potentially unwanted application is installed, it forces browsers to open a new tab or window and redirects users to trkur4.com, which then redirects to additional (about two or three) other untrustworthy websites that might be malicious and cause high-risk computer infections.
Another downside of PUAs is intrusive ads (coupons, banners, surveys, pop-ups, etc.) that are displayed using tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any visited website. These unwanted ads can be really frustrating, since they often conceal underlying content of legitimate websites.
Furthermore, ads delivered by PUAs often redirect users to potentially malicious/untrustworthy websites or execute scripts that download and install other unwanted applications. Most PUAs also collect user-system information. The targeted information typically includes IP addresses, keystrokes, visited websites, geo-locations, search queries, and so on.
The collected data might contain personal or sensitive information that is shared with third parties (potentially cyber criminals) and used to generate revenue.
These actions could put your privacy and browsing safety at risk or even lead to identity theft. Research shows that, once installed, some potentially unwanted applications perform background tasks/processes that might cause a significant reduction in computer performance. Therefore, we recommend that you uninstall all PUAs immediately.

In summary, most potentially unwanted applciations are virtually identical and share the same purpose - to generate venue for their developers by performing the above actions. PUPs developers typically offer "useful" features and tools, however, in most cases, these programs provide none of the functionality promised and deliver no real value for regular users.
How did adware install on my computer?
Potentially unwanted applications typically have official websites from which they can be downloaded, however, most users install them unintentionally when a deceptive marketing method called "bundling" is used or through intrusive ads. Bundling is stealth installation of PUPs with regular software that is ad-supportive or free.
Developers hide bundled applications/programs in "Custom", "Advanced" and other options/settings of the installation processes.
PUAs installations are often not properly disclosed and thus users are tricked into installing them inadvertently. In some cases, potentially unwanted applications are installed when a third party software downloader/installer is used to download or install software.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Avoid using third party software downloaders/installers and torrents as sources to download or install software. Use official and trustworthy sources only.
Do not skip installation steps without first checking "Custom"/"Advanced" settings. Opt-out of all unwanted offers (in this case, potentially unwanted applications) and only then finish the installation (or proceed to the next step). Be cautious when browsing the web, especially when clicking online ads.
It is often difficult to determine if ads are legitimate, since malicious ad developers invest time in money in their design. If after clicking an ad you are redirected to an untrustworthy website (such as gambling, pornography, adult dating, etc.), close the window or tab immediately and check your browser extensions, plug-ins, and add-ons for any suspicious entries.
The same applies to installed programs on your computer. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
