Lawsivo.ru POP-UP Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is lawsivo.ru?
lawsivo.ru is a rogue website identical to rakbler.ru, karonty.com, click-now-on.me, and many more. Its main purpose is to redirect visitors to untrustworthy websites.
Most users are redirected to lawsivo.ru by potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) that are installed on systems inadvertently. These programs also deliver intrusive ads, track information, and run various background tasks.
Once installed, potentially unwanted programs open new browser tabs/windows and redirect users to the lawsivo.ru rogue website, which then redirects to even more (2-3) untrustworthy websites (that usually contain malicious content and might cause high-risk computer infections).
PUPs tend to collect user-system information (such as IP addresses, visited websites, search queries, keystrokes, geo-locations etc.) and share it with third parties (potentially cyber criminals) so that PUPs developers can generate revenue. These activities might lead to privacy issues or even identity theft.
Furthermore, potentially unwanted programs often deliver intrusive ads that are displayed via tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site and conceal underlying content.
These ads can diminish the browsing experience, redirect users to untrustworthy websites, and even execute scripts that download and install other potentially unwanted programs (likely to be malicious). Some PUPs are known to run various background tasks that could reduce computer performance significantly. We advise you to uninstall these programs immediately.

There are many potentially unwanted programs available, most of which are identical. They generate revenue by collecting information, delivering intrusive ads, and causing unwanted redirects. PUP developers offer "useful" tools, however, these programs seldom provide the functionality promised.
How did adware install on my computer?
Most potentially unwanted programs have official websites where they can be downloaded, however, research shows that it is very common for users to install them inadvertently (through intrusive ads or regular software).
Software developers use a deceptive marketing method called "bundling" to stealthily install potentially unwanted programs together with regular software. These installations are often not properly disclosed. Additionally, bundled programs are hidden in "Custom", "Advanced", and other similar settings of the software installation processes.
Furthermore, many users skip installation steps by quickly clicking the "Next" button and do not opt-out of unwanted offers. This behaviour often leads to inadvertent installation of PUPs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
The key to safety is caution. Download software from official/trustworthy sources only, and avoid using third party software downloaders/installers and torrents. Install software carefully - check all options and settings (such as "Advanced", "Custom", and so on) of each installation dialog box and opt-out any unwanted offers (potentially unwanted programs).
Do not click intrusive ads, since developers (potentially cyber criminals) invest time and money into their appearance (most will seem legitimate), however, once clicked, they redirect to untrustworthy or malicious websites (such as gambling, pornography, adult dating, and so on).
If you have clicked this type of ad and were redirected to any of the aforementioned websites, close the window (or tab) immediately and check installed plug-ins, extensions, or add-ons on your web browser (and programs on your computer). Remove any unwanted/suspicious entries immediately.
Finally, keep your antivirus software enabled at all times. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
