What is Search Passage?
Search Passage is a dubious browser extension developed by SuperWeb LLC. This app falsely claims to enhance the web browsing experience by improving Internet search results. This functionality may seem legitimate and useful, however, Search Passage is categorized as adware and a potentially unwanted program (PUP).
This application infiltrates systems without users’ permission, causes unwanted browser redirects, delivers intrusive online advertisements, and monitors browsing activity.
Search Passage delivers pop-up, coupon, banner, transitional, interstitial, price comparison, full-page, search, and other similar ads. To achieve this, SuperWeb LLC employs a 'virtual layer', a tool that enables placement of third party graphical content on any website. None of the displayed advertisements originate from users' visited websites and conceal underlying content.
In addition, Search Passage continually causes unwanted browser redirects to nt.searchpassage.com. By generating intrusive advertisements and constantly redirecting users without their consent, Search Passage significantly diminishes the web browsing experience.
Note that ads delivered by this PUP can lead to malicious websites - clicking them is risky and might cause further high-risk adware or malware infections. Furthermore, Search Passage continually records various user/system information including website URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, and unique identifier numbers.
This information may seem insignificant, however, it might contain personally identifiable details that SuperWeb LLC shares with third parties.
Some of this private information will be misused to generate revenue. Therefore, the presence of an information-tracking app on your system could lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. We strongly recommend that you uninstall Search Passage adware immediately.

SuperWeb LLC has released several hundred potentially unwanted programs identical to Search Passage. For example, Tide Search, Monarimo, Web Amplified, and Steel Cut. All are designed only to generate revenue for SuperWeb LLC and none provide any significant value.
These apps simply cause unwanted browser redirects, gather personally identifiable information, and deliver intrusive online advertisements. SuperWeb LLC intentionally releases identical apps under different names to prevent detection by legitimate anti-spyware/anti-virus suites. How did Search Passage install on my computer?

Developers hide all potentially unwanted programs within the 'Custom/Advanced' settings of the download/installation processes. Therefore, users who skip this section, often install bogus software inadvertently.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
This situation can be prevented by taking two simple steps. Firstly, never rush when downloading and installing software - closely analyze each step using the 'Custom/Advanced' settings. Secondly, opt-out of additionally-included programs and decline offers to download/install them.
