Windows Defence Unit is a fake antivirus program, which mimics the detection of high-risk security threats in order to scare unsuspecting PC users into purchasing a 'full version' to supposedly eliminate the security infections.

Computer users should be aware that this program should not be trusted - it is a scam created by cyber criminals who make money from PC users who fall for the fake security warning messages and go on to purchase a license key for this rogue antivirus program.

This bogus software infiltrates the operating system using hacked websites, which display a fake Microsoft Security Essentials alert message to trick users into downloading and installing Windows Defence Unit on their computers.

   
SafePcRepair Toolbar

What is SafePcRepair toolbar?

Developed by Mindspark Inc, the SafePcRepair toolbar is a potentially unwanted browser extension optimized for Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. This browser plug-in claims to help maintain and improve PC performance.

On initial inspection, this functionality may seem legitimate, however, Internet users should be aware that SafePcRepair toolbar is considered to be adware. It installs on browsers without users' consent using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of additional applications together with the chosen software).

After successful installation, the browser homepage and default search engine settings are immediately assigned to home.tb.ask.com

What is SuddenlyMusic Toolbar?

SuddenlyMusic is a browser toolbar claiming to help Internet users find their favourite song lyrics, playing chords, access DJ mixing sites, and more. This toolbar is developed by Mindspark Inc. and compatible with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. Although this may appear to be a legitimate browser add-on, users should be aware that it is categorized as adware.

SuddenlyMusic installs on browsers using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling'. Following successful infiltration, the toolbar assigns the default search engine and homepage setttings to home.tb.ask.com. 

As well as changing these settings, SuddenlyMusic tracks users' Internet browsing activity by recording various software and hardware information including default language settings, browser types, IP addresses, search queries, and other information.

   
iWon Toolbar

What is iWon?

The iWon toolbar is a potentially unwanted browser add-on developed by Mindspark Inc. claiming to allow users access various types of free computer games. On initial inspection, this kind of functionality may seem legitimate, however, users should be aware that the iWon toolbar is categorized as adware.

The toolbar is compatible with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox and installs on these browsers without users' consent via a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of additional applications along with the chosen software).

Following successful infiltration, iWon immediately assigns the browser homepage and default search engine settings to home.tb.ask.com

Furthermore, this toolbar tracks users' Internet browsing activity by recording various information including IP addresses, browsers types, search queries, default language settings, and other information.

   
Jotzey Virus

What is Jotzey?

Created by SuperWeb LLC, Jotzey is a potentially unwanted browser extension optimized for Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox. This browser add-on claims to enhance users' Internet browsing experience by enabling coupons, comparison shopping, and adding other functionality.

Although the Jotzey plugin may seem legitimate, users should be aware that it is considered to be adware. Jotzey infiltrates browsers without users' consent using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of hidden applications along with the chosen software).

Once installation is complete, the plug-in generates various intrusive advertisements including interstitial, banner, text link, transitional, search, and full page ads.

Furthermore, this add-on tracks users' Internet browsing activity by recording Internet Protocol ('IP') addresses, browsers types, browser languages, dates and times of user requests, search terms, and may include domain names and date/times of pages viewed.
