Fartplz is a ransomware-type virus discovered by Michael Gillespie. Once infiltrated, Fartplz encrypts various files using AES-256 and RSA-2048 encryption algorithms. In doing so, this malware appends the ".fartplz" extension to the name of each encrypted file.
For instance, "sample.jpg" is renamed to "sample.jpg.fartplz". Following successful encryption, Fartplz creates an HTML file ("ReadME_Decrypt_Help_[number].html") containing a ransom-demand message and places it in all folders containing encrypted files.

Following successful infiltration, Maysomware encrypts stored data using the AES-256 and RSA-4096 encryption algorithms. During encryption, this malware appends filenames with the ".maysomware" extension.
For instance, "sample.jpg" is renamed to "sample.jpg.maysomware". Once the files are encrypted, Maysomware creates an HTML file ("Restore_maysomware_files.html") containing a ransom-demand message, and places it in each folder containing encrypted files.
What is VisionCrypt?
VisionCrypt is a ransomware-type virus discovered by malware security researcher, Lawrence Abrams. Once infiltrated, VisionCrypt encrypts various files using the AES-128 encryption algorithm.
In addition, this virus renames encrypted files using the "filename_fileformat.VisionCrypt" pattern (for example, "sample.jpg" is renamed to "sample_jpg.VisionCrypt"). VisionCrypt then opens a pop-up window containing a ransom-demand message.
