What is mobiprofit.com?
mobiprofit.com is another rogue website that redirects users to other suspicious websites and is identical to deloton.com, contentplaces.com, thepopularlinks.com, and many others.
Most users are redirected to mobiprofit.com by potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) that are stealthily installed - often without consent. PUPs cause redirects, but also collect information about users and provide intrusive ads.
What is letstosite.net?
The letstosite.net rogue website is identical to many others of this type (including dealclicks.us, nametraff.com, and rosetheet.com).
They all redirect users to other untrustworthy websites. Many users visit letstosite.net inadvertently - they are redirected by potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) that often infiltrate systems without permission. Furthermore, PUPs provide various intrusive ads (coupons, banners, and so on) and record sensitive information.
What is Cryptes?
Discovered by malware security researcher Michael Gillespie, Cryptes is ransomware-type malware that stealthily infiltrates the system and encrypts most files. In doing so, it appends filenames with the ".crypted" extension (e.g., "sample.jpg" is renamed to "sample.jpg.cryptes").
Encrypted files immediately become unusable. Following successful encryption, Cryptes creates a text file ("HOW TO DECRYPT ALL MY FILES.txt"), placing a copy in all existing folders.
What is Like?
First discovered by malware security researcher, Michael Gillespie, Like is a ransomware-type virus that stealthily infiltrates the system and encrypts most stored files.
During encryption, this virus appends filenames with the ".like" extension (for example, "sample.jpg" is renamed to "sample.jpg.like"). Once data is encrypted, using it becomes impossible. Like is also designed to generate a text file ("infoinfo.txt") and places a copy in every existing folder.
What is View?
View is an updated version of an adware-type application called Save Serp Now. As with Save Serp Now, this application is also likely to infiltrate systems without users’ permission. Furthermore, its behavior barely differs - it gathers information and delivers intrusive advertisements.
Therefore, as with Save Serp Now, View is categorized as adware and a potentially unwanted application (PUA).
What is FileEncrypted?
FileEncrypted is a ransomware-type virus discovered by malware security researcher, Michael Gillespie. Immediately after infiltration, FileEncrypted encrypts most stored files, thereby making them unusable. During encryption, FileEncrypted renames every file using the "[random_characters].FileEncrypted" pattern.
For instance, "sample.jpg" might be renamed to a filename such as "mIdca12=.FileEncrypted". Immediately after encrypting data, FileEncrypted generates an HTML file ("READ_TO_DECRYPT.html"), placing a copy in every existing folder.
What is XiaoBa?
First discovered by MalwareHunterTeam, XiaoBa is a ransomware-type virus that stealthily infiltrates systems and encrypts stored files. During encryption, XiaoBa appends filenames with the ".Encrypted[BaYuCheng@yeah.net].XiaBa" extension (e.g., "sample.jpg" is renamed to "sample.jpg.Encrypted[BaYuCheng@yeah.net].XiaBa").
Following successful encryption, XiaoBa creates two files ("_XiaoBa_Info_.hta" and "_XiaoBa_Info_.bmp"), placing them on the desktop. It also opens the .hta file and sets the .bmp file as the desktop wallpaper. Other variants of this ransomware use ".[BaYuCheng@yeah.net].china" and .[xiaoba_666@163.com]Encrypted_(victim ID).XIAOBA extensions for encrypted files.
What is Windows Product Key Expired?
"Windows Product Key Expired" is another fake error similar to Google Security Warning, Cydoor Spyware, Internet Security Alert, and many others.
This error is displayed by a malicious website that users often visit inadvertently - they are redirected by various PUPs (potentially unwanted programs) that infiltrate systems without permission. Be aware that most PUPs deliver intrusive ads (coupons, banners, pop-ups, so forth), gather sensitive data, and reduce overall system performance.
What is One System Care?
One System Care is presented as an application that helps to clean computer systems of various junk files - "OneSystemCare fully cares for your laptop and computer to protect it from unnecessary junk files and recurring issues by thoroughly scanning and inspecting its many components."
This functionality may seem legitimate and useful, however, One System Care is classed as a potentially unwanted program (PUP). The reasons for these negative associations are stealth installation and tracking of web browsing activity.
What is go.mennythanks.com?
Identical to go.bonefreeze.com, and a number of others sites, go.mennythanks.com is a fake web search engine that, according to the developers, enhances the browsing experience by generating improved results.
