What is Converter Suite?

Converter Suite is a browser hijacker advertised as a tool capable of converting various files formats (e.g. PDF, DOC, MP3, etc.). After successful installation, this software modifies browser settings and restricts access to them in order to promote convertersuite.com (a bogus search engine).

Furthermore, this browser hijacker has data tracking capabilities, which are employed to record browsing-related information. Since most users install Converter Suite unintentionally, it is also classified as a Potentially Unwanted Application (PUA). Note that Converter Suite is often distributed together with another PUA called Safeplex Search.

This is one of many phishing emails and is sent by cyber criminals who attempt to steal sensitive information from unsuspecting users. They are encouraged to review the files by logging into their Microsoft accounts through an 'official' Microsoft sign-in website. The purpose of this scam is to trick recipients into granting permission to a rogue application, which then allows cyber criminals to steal various data from recipients' Microsoft accounts.
